[Hope: confirmed.] This one had no hesitation - Bastion was as sure of it as it was about anything. There was hope, in and for, this world.

A long pause. Something in its code....itched.To follow.But also to contradict.

And the rest of its own kind, slaughtered as part of the peace treaty, so that those more ‘normal’ Omnics not built for war could offer proof of their intent. As if it had been the Bastions who decided to go to war.

🌀 : Send "🌀" to find my muse, injured and alone after being beaten up

They had found it in the forest at the edge of town. A teenager trying to beat a dare and stay out the night alone had come screaming back, telling of a beast of metal.

Bastion had tried to run, but it was raining. Rain was not good for its old exposed circuits.And so the people of the town had found it in the back of the cave.At first, none wanted to approach. It could fire on them, even rusted as it was.

But they couldn’t leave this menace. And as it refused to fire, some ventured to think it might be out of bullets.A few, later, would be fired in panic and pain. But by then it was too late.

Circuits sparked, exposed from battered armor shells. One of its metal legs was snapped, and Bastion was only supported by the rock against its back, the piece taken away as a trophy. Its optical box shuddered, half-detached, the people trying to yank it out.Only the passing howl of a wolf pack had saved Bastion from decapitation, the people scattering.

But now, it was alone, more broken than some of its dead compatriots, sparking and chirping in quiet, pained binary, hidden in a cave by the rain.
