do you think reading the textbook is necessary to do well in biol 201 and 204?
I’ve never taken 201, so I don’t know, but for 204, I only really used the textbook as a reference when I wanted a clarification on a certain topic.

I tried to register for biol 204 as it says there are spots open but it won't let me (says it's blocked even though there are general seats remaining), should I email the biology department head or the course instructor directly? Thanks!
I think you’ll have to wait until the wait-list clears, it’s completely full right now. I’m guessing they’re blocking registration so they can move students from the wait-list into the class when term starts on Monday.
You can always attend the first class to see what the professor says; they’ll usually let you know how to register for the class if you’re not already in it.
do spots ever open up for biol 204, i hear it's a pretty full class. or do you think if i email the instructor or the department that they can open up a spot?
Students do drop courses in January, so keep your eyes open for that. However, I see that there is a waitlist for the course, so I strongly recommend you register for it so that the course coordinator can put you in the course when/if there is room.
I'm taking BIOL 230 and BIOL 204 in term 2 and was wondering if you would recommend having both labs from 2-5 or if its better to have the BIOL 204 lab from 9-12(Fri) and having the BIOL 230 lab from 2-5 (Wed)? Are the BIOL 204 labs intensive?
The BIOL 204 labs were quite a bit of work, if I remember correctly. And if BIOL 230 hasn’t changed, then the labs actually only run once a month. I’m personally not a fan of morning labs, but that’s because I have to commute from Burnaby.
My bio TA was archer for halloween

did you find the practice problems for bio 204 harder than the final?... cuz our average for the midterm was 65% annd 20/90 people got below 50%.. lol final is tmrw soo kinda panicking cuz practice questions were kinda difficult :$
I think they were pretty representative of the types of questions you’d find on the final, granted, I had a different prof than who you have right now.
Good luck, you can do it! :)
What are the chances of getting into BIOL 204? The course is full right now but I can't register for the wait list because I would be overloading credits.
Honestly? It’s going to be hard, all 300 spots in the lecture have been filled up and the 30 spots on the wait list are also all gone. That’s not saying it’ll be impossible, but you’ll definitely need to keep your eyes locked on the SSC during the first week to snag a spot. What’s restricting the enrolment number is most likely lab space, there’s limited space in the labs so the class can’t take as many students as something like CAPS 390.
And WOW 300? That’s crazy! My class had less than 100 in the summer while my friends’ during the regular school year had just over 150!
