the yokai you're thinking of is betobeto-san! an invisible spirit that would walk behind you, leaving only the sound of footsteps from wooden sandals. it was a harmless but creepy spirit, but if yous tepped to the side and said "after you, betobeto-san", he would continue his walk and leave you alone. petapeta even has a similar name, AND sandals! you have to be significantly less polite to him tho

i wouldn't be shocked if the kirby comic didn't happen because of the kirby team having their own weird shit planned that potential stories from a completely separate creative team could have muddled. still would have been amazing tho

I mean ALL of the Nintendo pitches got show down. I think Nintendo just doesn’t really care about tie-in media at the moment (aside from the animated Mario movie in the works). Like it’s not like there’s a Mario cartoon on the air right now

But yeah, while I would have loved to see what Ian would do with the Dark Matter Trilogy, we don’t really need a comic to bring back obscure elements from older Kirby games and weave a complex narrative out of all those little bits of lore, because that’s what the actual games are doing these days. Star Allies turned the fucking butterfly from the cinematics of the last few games into a major boss, and it may have also implied that Kirby is related to Dark Matter. Like half of the magical artifacts from the older games were retconned as creations from Magolor’s world. The work is already being done there

you know the situation with pokemon is pretty dire when YOU are feeling apathetic about it

I’m definitely not apathetic to new pokemon designs, but I am greatly less interested in the main game series if a lot of pokemon are permanently incompatible with it, and if it becomes their new norm for each game to allow only a limited selection, it really would kill the game series for me altogether.
