Little bird

It’s time to let go of the litte bird

I know you took care of it and created a bond

but don’t get hurt

it’s time to set it free, let it fly to the clouds and beyond.

Starling

Every morning a starling knocks at the glass

With her yellow beak,

For a crumb of bread --

Remnant of the last night's meal.

She waits for me to drop the morsels

And slide the window pane,

Then she gently picks it

And leaps onto the rain-shed beneath

And waits again for her partner.

It melts my heart even on loveless days --

So romantic a phenomenon,

A rare scene in our concrete jungles.

May I wake up every morning

Amidst the cacophony

Of a thousand starlings,

Or never wake up again.

Opera

Eyes lean and hungry

Gaze deep into the skull

Of night.

A crow with dusty wings

Flies into a blood-soaked opera

Of worms and insects.

The reaper shuns all light.

Soon, swooping wings

And a dagger beak

Cuts through tainted flesh.

The music stops

And insects scatter

The less fortunate

Are stabbed and killed.

Eyes lean and content

Gaze out from the skull

Of the night.
