then  again,  it  was  just  a  hat  —  that  had  to  have  helped  cool  off  any  embers  of  annoyance  the  gesture  might  have  sparked,  yes?  sneasel  had  a  tendency  to  snatch  up  whatever  he  could  get  his  little  claws  on.  it  was  a  habit  most  would  have  discouraged.  (  and  supposedly,  the  ice  type  HAD  cycled  through  several  different  trainers  for  precisely  that  reason.  )  however,  scout  had  always  found  the  skill  incredibly  useful.  he  was  a  criminal;  he  also  liked  to  dabble  in  a  little  bit  of  THEFT  here  and  there.  frankly,  life  was  just  too  short  not  to  have  a  bit  of  fun  and  follow  one’s  sillier  impulses.  and  if  they  could  get  away  with  it  without  being  CAUGHT  —  well,  that  was  even  better,  now  wasn’t  it?  free  stuff!

this  time,  the  ice  type  had  apparently  taken  a  liking  to  the  other’s  hat  —  and  in  all  fairness,  he  looked  super  adorable  with  it  sitting  all  crooked  on  his  fluffy  little  sneasel  head.  ah!  maybe  THAT  was  why  the  stranger  was  being  so  calm  about  it?  could  be . . .

kaeya   had   been   prepared   to   spend   his   birthday   in   idle   wondering   -   sure   ,   he   could   have   been   drinking   ...   but   how   would   that   differ   from   any   other  day   ?   no   ,   that   wouldn't   do   -   to   be   entirely   honest   ,   he   wasn't   feeling   a   celebration.      not   for   his   birthday   at   least.      he'd   leave   the   merry   making   to   the   bard   ,   for   tonight   at   least.   

his   feet   had   taken   him   to   the   vineyard   of   dawn   winery   ,   pockets   laden   with   crystal-core   plucked   from   the   crystalflies   there.      content   on   roaming   no   place   in   particular   .      until   his   solitude   was   broken   by   none   other   than   diluc   -      should   he   be   surprised   ?      he   was   on   his   property   after   all.

      “ accepted. ” there’s no hesitation, no pause to really CONSIDER their answer; just an immediate yes. not that any other answer was expected, they’ve been having valentine’s day together for a FEW years by now. the sweets and decorations are ALWAYS an added bonus though.

      “ you don’t have to ask. ” IMMEDIATELY he’s there, pressing a chaste kiss to their lips with a smile. they’re TEMPTED to give more but end up holding back for now (diluc had only asked for ONE kiss after all), pulling away with the UTMOST self satisfied grin. “ where are you going, dear? ”

   he’s already in an awful mood. between having to pick up camp and bolt from the city over ahead of schedule and barely making it out of an arbitrary firefight with a couple of thugs, the last thing jack needs now is some pseudo-interrogation from his bartender of all people. it’s hard enough to ask for help as is, and this guy’s been making it worse with every seemingly apathetic glance.

    ❛❛  i can offer you a bigger cut if that’s what you’re aiming for.  ❜❜  jack knuckles the glass of whiskey set in front of him, listens to the soft clink of ice. it’s the first time he’s been able to indulge in the finer stuff for awhile. he quietly wishes he had the money to afford a bit more.   ❛❛  i guess i just figured you’d be the best bet, considering all this talk about the generosity of these folks darknight hero.  ❜❜

   because while jack might not be the best at intel, he likes to imagine he’s at the very least good at understanding people; he wouldn’t have holed up himself up here for the time being if he knew he’d be turned away when it mattered most.

         quietly   walking   along   the   path   that   connected   liyue   and   mondstadt,   the   harbinger   will   cautiously   take   in   the   familiar   sights.   his   (   it   was   rightful   his,   of   course   )   gnosis   settled   in   the   base   of   his   form,   where   a   heart   would   have   been   placed   had   he   been   human.   escaping   inazuma   had   been   the   easy   part,   avoiding   fatui   agents   had   been   slightly   more   difficult.  

        however,   those   who   unfortunately   got   a   glance   in   were   swiftly   dealt   with.   a   contemplative   look   spreads   across   his   features.   they   would   probably   be   sending   a   fellow   harbinger   soon.   though   for   collection   or   destruction   could   be   anyone’s   guess.   not   that   he   cared   that   much.   if   he   continued   as   he   was,   then   there   should   be   issue.  

        examining   his   nails,   he’ll   only   note   that   he   started   to   get   closer   to   what   the   locals   called   dawn   winery.   avoiding   the   most   common   path,   he’ll   stick   to   the   lower   route.  

        only   to   almost   run   into   the   owner   himself.     a   grin   spreads   across   his   features,   head   slightly   tilting   to   the   side   attempting   to   play   into   the   kind   passerby   attitude   that   he   used   with   the   traveler   when   they   first   met.   scaramouche   had   to   play   it   by   ear.   given   the   vision   that   dangled   at   the   other’s   hip,   he   would   be   a   bit   more   difficult   to   take   down   than   previous   opponents   if   worse   came   to   worse.   not   that   he   would   scoff   at   a   more   difficult   test   dummy   to   his   newfound   power,   but   unnecessary   risks   weren’t   what   he   was   looking   for   at   the   moment.

      it had been a while since childe had last been home (maybe not a LONG while but a few days felt like an eternity to them). giving polite greetings to maids and other employees as they search the house for a very SPECIFIC redhead. finally finding his husband in their usual spot in the study and almost IMMEDIATELY running over like a puppy; giving a quick " i'm home. " before lips meet in a HUNGRY kiss to show how much they missed him.
