maybe my memory is a little bad, but I recall Pikachu beating Cubone who was immune to electric attack using his speed and wit. and it was during original series, before he got all experienced in battles and learnt non-electric moves stronger than quick attack
Yeah but, admittedly, it’s not quite the same thing. Pikachu had all his wits about him during that battle tbh. Yes, maybe electric powers didn’t work on Cubone, but it wasn’t as if Pikachu’s electric powers were inaccessible or unbalanced. It’s just that they didn’t do any damage to his opponent. That’s a bit different because Pikachu’s state of mind was not altered by sudden internal elemental instability.
Still though, the outcome could have/should have been the same. Pikachu was inexperienced back then, wasn’t nearly as fast or as durable as he is now (or as of Unova, I guess I should say). There weren’t many other options outside of electric attacks in his arsenal but he still won because the writers wanted to give Ash an inspirational victory that relied on defying the type disadvantage he’d been dealt.
In the case of Snivy, while the reason for Pikachu not dealing damage with electric moves was different, there should still have been more than enough difference in other stats for him to deal a finishing move since Snivy was still new to battling other trained Pokemon.
No matter how you look at it, that particular loss makes no sense. If their levels had been a bit more evened out – as in, a ratio of Pikachu at level 50 versus Snivy at level 35-40 – sure, but this was more along the lines of Pikachu at level 50 and Snivy at level 5. It should have been a one-hit-KO simply because Snivy’s defenses would be so low in comparison to Pikachu’s attack level.
Even without numbered levels, the point still stands. Pikachu has had eons, ages, and regions-worth of battle experience and development. His trainer is known for instinctive battle strategies even when they’re at a loss or disadvantage - no matter how suddenly it comes on. Snivy was just starting out. At the very least, if Snivy won, it would have taken a hundred or so hits to do the kind of damage needed at that level to incapacitate Pikachu.

10: Do you like to be in serious relationships or just flings?
Serious relationships all the way! I mean, if it were possible for me to be in one... Unfortunately, I can’t, but trust and loyalty cannot be properly bred in flings the way they can be bred in long-lasting relationships.
11: When you are dating someone do you believe in going on "breaks"?
Hmm... well... maybe? I would need specification on what “breaks” mean in this case. What caused them? A lack of trust? A troubling situation between us? Other life things (such as maybe school or work) taking precedence and needing all of our attention currently?
27: If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice about dating what would it be?
Tbh, this doesn’t apply since I’ve never really dated anyone. I mean, I’ve gone out on two different experimental dates with two different people but... in the end... I realized I couldn’t do it. So I guess maybe my advice would be not to even bother myself with trying because perhaps I got these other peoples’ hopes up in the process?
Just checking in to say that I hope you have a good day and thank you for your hard work :)
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful day, too. :)
You're such a blessing for us shippers, tbh. Without you browsing the tags would be so much more unpleasant. You're doing a wonderful job, helping people with anxiety, triggers n such to avoid antis, and I thank you for this
Thank you, love. <3 I hope you have a nice evening!
