A NanaRyo Ep5 Analysis

An analysis on Wakura Nanao and the trouble he went through to get those ❤ shaped cookies to get his kouhai to notice him.

So back when cookie ep aired I forgot/wasn't aware that Nao loves sweets and especially Japanese sweets and so while everyone else in DC didn't know about Martha handing them out:

1. Nanao knew. 2. Only ONE bag was handed per student. 3. The line was freakishly long. 4. Nanao got up very early and went in line and waited in line for a bag of sweets that he most likely hadn't opened to eat a cookie. 5. Nanao was READY with the cookies when Ryouma and Kyoutarou came up the stairs. 6. So Nanao knows the time they come to school. 7. He was prepared to have the cookies ready by then. 8. He said: “These are for you, Ryouma-kun.” 9. Because he got them explicitly for the cute cinnamon roll bby orange. 10. But because he's a sadist who loves to tease, and because he wants to see Ryouma's flustered faces, he didn't give it to him yet. 11. Because even tho Ryouma was all like COOKIES!!! 12. Nanao waited until he saw that BRIGHT STARRY SUNSHINE SMILE before handing them over. 13. Because senpai is a wreck over the excited : D smile of his kouhai. 14. And he would do whatever he can to get kouhai to notice him. 15. That's why he hummed all pleased after Ryouma looked at him when Taishi explained where the cookies came from.

Ok so as someone with a sweet tooth as well its tough to share sweets like in my case for ex. ice cream especially when there’s like 3-5 in a box.

Senpai went to a lot of trouble to get those cookies to get kouhai to notice him. Nanao most likely wanted a bag of cookies too but he went and stayed in line for Ryouma.

To make Ryouma happy and see his kouhai smile really bright first thing in the morning.

Isn't that sweet ; u ;

So this scene at the beginning showed that this is most likely a regular everyday routine for the DC. Nanao and Ryouma support each other and the DC by one always making the tea and making sure they don’t run out while the other brings in the everyday snacks.

But at the same time, judging by Ryouma's excitement from the treats Nanao brought, it's most probably something Ryouma likes especially to eat since he was JUST SO HAPPY when he heard what snack Nanao brought. So even though Nanao teases Ryouma about it, he got that salt daifuku treat just to see that bright, warm, radiant smile on Ryouma-kun’s face ^o^

Ryouma being all excited over a snack (aka excited for Nanao-senpai's surprise snack of the day) and Ryouma's arms in the air and happy skip is way too cuteeee >u<

Ryouma's legs are just purposely moved back so he can put them over Nanao's legs. And Nanao with his smile and wink and elbow under Ryouma-kun’s head is most definitely enjoying it~
