Pearl and the Beard have done a wonderful job in Black Vessel. It starts with soft vocal harmony that pulls you into the song. Then the cello kicks off. Damn I love stringed instruments. They're just so damned beautiful and powerful. I found myself constantly switching between the vocals and the cello as they fought to become the driving force of the song. Then with the percussion beautifully blending in with it's thunderous roars, the song evokes some heavy emotions and seems to resonate with the core of your soul.
Pearl and the Beard features Jocelyn Mackenzie (Percussion, vocal, glockenspiel), Emily Hope Price (Vocals, Cello, Accordian) and Jeremy Styles (Vocals, Guitar). They continue to make kick ass music from New York City and consider themselves to be a fusion of folk, pop, gospel and americana genres.
Oh, and that beard.
