The second title line says in all in terms of theme: "No Shit, That's How Cities Work. Watching Seattle Change from Inside Black Dog Forge, Belltown's Blacksmith Shop." Ah, Dan Savage - never change.
I don't completely agree with Dan on this one, mostly because he doesn't address the super problematic issue of long-term (usually poor and/or minority) residents that get displaced once money, transit or other resources start coming into a scruffy or just straight impoverished neighborhood. This doesn't just suck, it's a downright social injustice.
That said, he's right on his main point - Cities change. Seattle has always been changing, businesses have continually come and gone, and people have moved all around the city since forever. Not everything survives, but some of the best things do. Not to mention all the great new artists/businesses/institutions we get as time passes. Change isn't weird, and it isn't the end of Seattle.
