Sarah Vaughan.
Bringing you the wonderful jazz vocalist and inspiration behind our ‘SARAH’ frames, Sarah Vaughan (1924-1990). Born into a very religious family, at the age of seven she started to play piano and sing in her local church choir and her love for music grew from there. Throughout her teenage years she would sneak into clubs to play on stage and be inspired by other musicians, then at the age of 18 she won the Amateur night at the Apollo theatre, then in 1943 she was contracted her to open for Ella Fitzgerald and her singing career blossomed from there. Later she would be known as ‘Sassy’ or ‘Sailor’ for her salty speech.
These slightly rectangular frames are inspired by Sarah's slightly wild and rule breaking personality. We've decided to share with you a live version of 'Tenderly' recorded in 1958.

A day with Peggy Lee
Today we have decided to delve into the world of American jazz singer, songwriter, composer and inspiration behind our ‘PEGGY’ frames, Peggy Lee (1920-2002). Lee started out her singing career whilst she was still at high school, playing for small sums on local radio stations. It was a few years later when she was playing at the Buttery room that her career really started to take off. She was spotted by bandleader, Benny Goodman and played with him for two years. Lee reached her first number one hit in 1942 with ‘somebody else is taking my place'.
Not only did Peggy Lee have a successful singing career she also composed music and acted, in 1955 she appeared in Walt Disney's 'Lady and the Tramp' as voice of the dreaded Siamese cats. Over all she had a career that spanned over 6 decades! Which is why we feel this very elegant yet bold cat eye frame would suit her career and personality perfectly! We are losing ourselves in her music and so should you, here's one of our favourites to get you started: Peggy Lee - 'Fever' (1958).
