**** NEW **** NEW ***** NEW The washed fleece direct from Scottish Highland sheep, washed and carded by Golden Grass Fibre Art - Hand spun and then weaved on a traditional wooden loom in Shiness by Brenda McGuire -Golden Grass Fibre Art. I asked Brenda to tell us a little bit about the process to produce this stunning Hebridean and Scottish Black Face rug. In her own words ‘ I have two vintage Upright Dryad Looms - one we call ‘Big Loom’ ( as she is slightly bigger ) ; she was made in 1940's and had been up until I got her , living on the Isle North Uist . The other loom we call ‘Granny Loom’ ; she is older probably late 1930's with wooden cogs . This Hebridean and Black Face rug has been made on ‘Big Loom’ . Using approx. 2-3 kilos of raw fleece before washing / dry , carding & spinning . To prepare the wool takes approx two weeks . Then it is warping and weaving time , woven on loom by hand with 6 epi ( ends per inch ) , on cotton warp 8/4. To weave each rug can take 6 -8 hrs ‘ As each rug is woven individually these are one of a kind - which means all our customers can experience a unique piece. ‘ This rug would look sensational in any space, as a rug or perhaps draped over a sofa to give your interior decor a chic, boho look. The featured rug is Hebridean and Black faced sheep 100% wool . Handmade in the Scottish Highlands by skilled craftsperson Brenda McGuire - Golden Grass Fibre Art.
