The Hate U Give Movie

Idk about ya'll but I'm excited to see this movie. I've read the book twice and fell in love with it. The characters, the messages about racism, the relationship between Chris and Starr, Starr's parents (her parents are awesome). But I'm a little disappointed that Amandala is playing Starr. Don't get me wrong, Amandala is an amazing and strong actress, but she's seen in so many movies with a black female lead that I kinda get tired of her. Also the Starr in the book is a dark skin. But either way I'm still excited and I'm over joyed to see my favorite actor (Anthony Mackie) in the movie.

Antjuan: I met this young man at VSU. At first I was just his RA that lived down the hall. Then it turned into a friendship. We fuss and fight, we laugh and scream, but I know he's my friend. Darn there my little brother. Antjuan will be one of my bridesMANS lol for sure. Shoutout to my 28 for LAST DAY OF 28 days of Real Fuckin Black! @ann_juann . . . . Antjuan Walker is 23, hailing from Newport News Virginia, a product of Virginia education were he attended VSU and received his bachelors in Mechanical Engineer Technology. His plans for life is to help. He has always been a guy to listen and give his two cents when asked so he wants to do that on a more professional level starting with friends by helping build their dreams, mostly buy connecting young professionals. Another goal is to connect with kids to encourage a brighter future filled with self worth and pride in who they are mostly through education. Currently he is an operation engineer for FedEx. He's the future and plans to stay in the engineer field possible moving back into the manufacturing side of things. What he loves about who he is, is his positive attitude. He says, "The future holds hopefully me owning a business or two and more engineer a family and happiness." This is one of the dearest friends and I'm proud of him. Crystal: Well this is funny! So she thinks I'm a creep because I was moving to a different coast and I wanted to meet new people. So I found Crystal on Facebook before our freshman year of college and sent her a message. The funny thing is we lived in the same dorm and became great friends. Now New York is my home away from home. Shoutout to day 27 of 28 days of Real Fuckin Black challenge. @just_callmecrys . . . Crystal is 20+ years old. She went to Virginia State University and had Bachelor of Science in Health Science. She is born and raised Queens, New York 💅🏾. She is currently working in Child Welfare as a Preventive Caseworker for a non-profit agency. What excites her about what shes doing is creating a bond with the families she works with, and advocating on their behalf. What she love about herself is her culture; the FOOD, the music, and the diversity. Her goal is to continue traveling the world, experiencing cultural diversity. To laugh and dance with the natives of each country she visit, and learning more about their culture. Her plans are to become a School Social Worker to address social and psychological issues with children that may cause a block in academic progression. She is interested in assisting young people overcome difficulties in their lives, being a mentor, and assistance them in succeeding in school. Crystal is definitely a advocate for the youth and I love her drive to better the community. Paulana: Just know this is my doppelganger and she was apart of one of my favorite summers. Day 20 goes to Paulana for 28 Days of Real Fuckin Black. @itspaulana . . . Paulana Lamonier is from Long Island, New York, she graduated from CUNY York College in 2013 with a BA in Journalism. Paulana game plan is to be an edutainer. Educating and entertaining her audience through all mediums: writing, broadcast journalism & through the performing arts. She is currently writing for ESPN's The Undefeated and has some really dope stories coming through the pipeline. So be on the lookout! What she love about herself is her outlook on life. She has always maintained an optimistic outlook, even when people "be trying her." Sometimes it can be passed off as dismissive (which is true, lol), but she always learned to not let the little things get to you. Focus on the big picture. She loves that her community is small, intimate and everyone knows each other. In her community, she says, "We have a lot of dreamers & people that are out there making dreams happen." Paulana right now plans for herself it's to be on TV/create her own YouTube channel. She really want to exercise being in front of an audience & making people laugh, but also learning. She is definitely a learner and a go getter. She wants to entertain but she knows that It's crucial for her to educate her audience not just entertain. Paulana is a people's person just like me and has a vision or two cents for everyone. She says to the youth, "Have a vision first & believe in it wholeheartedly. The Bible says without vision the people WILL perish meaning God didn't give you your vision/dream solely for you, it's for those around & coming after you in the future generations. Secondly, have mentors. It's important to have an advisory board/tribe of people you can go to & seek counsel." Ahamad: Twin power! I really have a twin and he is dabomb! Day 13 goes out to my twin. @thefearwithin days of Real Fuckin Black. . . . . Ahamad Johnson, young and gifted. Johnson is from San Diego, he went to Lincoln High School, he is super athletic, a father, in the United States Army, a husband and black. He loves the fact that we have a huge family. He recently just had a baby. I spoke to him the other day and he told me he misses his baby girl. I don't have children but I couldn't imagine being 3000+ miles away from my child for nine months. Fathers are important figures in our lives. To be able to protect there child, love there child, and to share there energy with them. It means a lot to me that my brother can share his emotions with me and that our Twin bond has grown so much. I'm proud of you twin!
