Glarus “SIgnature Series” Black Sea IPA Review, 6%, IPA, Bulgaria Color/Aroma: 7.75/10 Body: 8.25/10 Taste: 8/10 Overall: 8/10
A very smooth, full bodied IPA. Sweet and fruity yet bitter. Mellow and lasting taste with a complex and nuanced finish of fruits and spices.
What I like most is that the sweet/fruity tastes and the soft bitterness exist on the same plain without actually mixing into each other.
It’s great IPA and something I did not expect from “Glarus”, given the quality of their “regular” range of beers, which occupy the lower price category of the craft beer market.
This one, branded as the first of their “signature” series, is a limited edition that should, for their own good, enter into regular production. It’s a little pricier but it still comes in way under the cost of similar imports. Believe it or not, you can get this for as much 1.6 Euros which, given the quality of the beer, is just unbelievable. That, I fell I have to say, is reflected positively in the score I gave.
It’s not the greatest IPA out there but I doubt it can be beaten at that price.
