Blacks in Green is creating a community of choice ~
one building-garden-enterprise at a time...
creating an environment where neighbors thrive with a sense of belonging...
where neighbors can walk-to-work, walk-to-shop, walk-to-learn, and walk-to-play...
where they own the businesses, own the land, and live the conservation lifestyle.
We've planted nearly 500 trees in West Woodlawn, including 49 on to the emerging "Downtown Woodlawn" Cottage Grove commercial corridor.
Our headquarters [above] are being upgraded and doubling in size
thanks to a $2 million+ State of Illinois capital allocation.
You know and love "The Redhead" our Green Living Room™ where we have worked...partied...taught...retailed...and just chilled out...on the left...
but wait till you meet "The Blonde" ~ coming in 2027 with upscale retail
and 4 more wonderful residences...
[what you can't see is the Kollard Korner™ Garden Lounge out back...]
We're decarbonizing both buildings
[replacing gas infrastructure with clean/high performance energy]
and adding 8 affordable street level retail boutiques with live/work options above

Subject: Move Out Notice
Dear Ms. Naomi Davis,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you and let you know that I have officially purchased a home, and this letter serves as my formal notice that I will be moving out.
While I’m truly excited about this next chapter, I have to admit that leaving this home brings a little sadness. You have been such a wonderful landlord—always responsive, caring, and consistent. From making timely repairs to keeping us informed about any updates, you created a living experience that was truly rare and special. Renting from you has genuinely changed my life for the better.
Beyond being a great landlord, your work as a community and garden activist has been deeply inspiring to me. Watching how you invest in people and the environment around you gave me the courage to pursue my own dreams—both as a politician and as a future business owner. You embody the spirit of community leadership that I hope to carry forward in my own journey.
As I prepare to move, I’ll also need to access the basement to collect my belongings before my departure. I’ll be sure to coordinate the timing so it’s convenient for you.
Thank you again for everything you’ve done—not just as a landlord, but as a role model. Your impact will stay with me long after I’ve moved on.
With gratitude and respect,
