Bob Kulick ist tod

Heute am frühen Abend kam zum Beginn des Pfingstwochenendes leider eine traurige Meldung rein. Bob Kulick ist im Alter von nur 70 Jahren verstorben. Bob war ein sehr gefragter Studio -und Livemusiker und spielte in seiner Karriere in bei unzähligen Künstler wie Lou Reed, Kiss, W.A.S.P. Meat Loaf und Michael Bolton um nur ein paar wenige zu nennen.

Vorallem mit Kiss wird er immer wieder in Verbindung gebracht. So wäre er fast zum Gründungsmitglied der Band geworden, hatte aber gegen Ace Frehley den Kürzeren gezogen, der gleich nach ihm zum Probespielen antrat. Bob war aber später auf der Alive II zu hören, obwohl er nicht namentlich genannt wird. Auch auf den Alben Unmasked, Killers und Creatures Of The Night war er zu hören. Kiss war aber wie erwähnt nicht die einzige grosse Band mit der Bob Kulick zu tun hatte. So war er Tourgitarrist von Meat Loaf zum Klassiker Bat Out Of Hell. Auch als Produzent machte er eine gute Falle und arbeitet in dieser Rolle auch mit Motörhead zusammen. Für die Zeichentrickserie SpongeBob Schwammkopf komponierte er den Song Sweet Victory.

Für mich jedoch die war sein Engagenment bei W.A.S.P. das Highlight. Bob spielte die Gitarre auf dem Meisterwerk The Crimson Idol. Für mich das unerreicht beste Album von Blackie. Ihm hat er auch auf dem Pseudosolo Album Still Not Black Enough ausgeholfen. Er war zwar nie mit W.A.S.P. auf Tour oder wurde offiziell Mitglied der Band aber beide Alben haben für mich einen sehr speziellen Wert. Bob spielte auf einigen Alben mit die ich heute noch gerne höre, so auch auf Afterlife von Blackthrone, einer Band, die heute als Supergroup durchgehen würde.
