The Karner Blue butterfly is Extirpated in Ontario, meaning we no longer get to see these beauties here. Lovely, light, and delicate looking butterflies, they used to exist near Pinery and Long Point, even with records from Toronto through to Sarnia. Once again, habitat loss is the main culprit for the loss of these lovelies. Development has taken over much of the habitat where they thrive - places where wild lupine grows, as that is the sole source of food for the larvae. ontario.ca/page/karner-blue #ontarioartsca #blackworknow #blackworknowillustrations #iblackwork #natureinspired #naturelovers_united #natureinspiredart #pigmamicron #dotworknow #blackandwhiteillustrations #bwartwork #plantsandanimals #insectillustration #illustrationnow #darkartist #natureillustrationart #myarte #idraw #instaarthub #butterfly🦋 #discoverart #ontarioartist #karnerblue #endangeredspecies #canada🍁 (at Sarnia, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz_mpJhnqMS/?igshid=mw6g6xyxadlk
