Shun - Kill me

( shun, you are such a butt for sending this prompt. OUT OF ALL THE ONES YOU COULD HAVE SENT you chose this - rrrrrrrrrrrrrr you little shit )

It was supposed to be a simple mission, ‘in and out’ they had said. Two groups had been sent in to ambush and assassinate a group of fanatical inquest posted deep within Bloodtide Coast, one to provide a distraction to lure them out while the others simply picked them off as they scattered.

When the explosion went off and the shouting began, a large charr - her fur plastered with mud and frayed swamp plants to provide easy camouflage in the marshy area - raised her bow to take aim. The loud targets were easy for her to find despite her lack of sight, both the panicked breathing and heavy footfalls through the sodden earth provided ridiculously easy methods to pin-point them.

The metallic scent of spilt blood filled her nostrils, rusty and heady like freshly melted slag iron, causing her to lick at her muzzle instinctively. The ruckus below was thankfully slowing though, most of their targets either dead or admitting defeat.

Uncoordinated footfalls sounded to her left, causing her to turn quickly. With ears pressed as far forwards as possible, she loosed an arrow in the small villain’s direction. The sound of the projectile hitting home reached her ears, followed by a low gurgle and the soft thud of a body hitting marshland, but… the panicked footfalls of her target continued unhindered.

Reed’s blood ran cold, a shrill noise rang in her ears as she tried to scent at the fallen body desperately - it wasn’t an asura.

“Goji, go get ‘em!” She barked at the large drake that had been fidgeting at her side the entire time, eager to tear into prey of his own. The reef drake didn’t hesitate in charging after the asura, maw gaping and teeth bared, ready to claim his well-earned snack.

Leaping over the rotting log that had provided her cover, Reed ran towards the body on all fours, her balance faltering a few times in the slippery landscape and body crashing into the mud and stringy plants.

Once she was closer, the scent was near indistinguishable - she’d been around him often enough to know exactly who he was by this point, swamp water covering him or not, it was Shun Kuroda.

It was very difficult to hear him to begin with, and near impossible on the battlefield.

Panicked fingers ran over the man’s head, letting out an anguished wail when her claws found the projectile that had hit him. The arrow lay embedded through the back of his head, tip jutting out from beneath his jaw. He must have been stealthed while trying to take out the damned asura himself.

“Medic!” she practically yelled into the communication headpiece attached to her ear, “I need a medic! Burn an’ slag we need some’un now!”

Questions barked through the small machine while she raised up her bow to let loose an arrow of Shun’s own creation towards the closest tree, the metal arrow-head sparking up in bright flame that licked at the bark and leaves.

“Jus’ follow th’fuckin’ flame,” she stopped for a moment, her voice breaking as she pressed the pads of her fingers to Shun’s neck, searching desperately for a pulse, “Follow it! Now!”

There was no pulse, no air left his lips, no steady thud of a heartbeat.

Of all things to die from, friendly fire was not something he had deserved.

For both Sanna and Tarnn - Gothic and couch

Gothic:What clique did your character belong to in school? Did they get along well with the others?

Sanna: I was one of the few progeny in my class who had been educated on magic before entering school. It got me a lot of attention from my peers at an early age. But the attention wasn't for who I was, but what I could do. I eventually realized that and didn't like being an object of curiosity. But that waned once the teachers started on arcane studies, and then I was considered to be more normal. I was also thought of as a little odd because I tried to get along with everyone, even those considered not as intelligent.

Tarnn: I was one of the outcasts. I was too tall, too big, too different. I tried to get along as well as I could, I just didn't want to cause any trouble and be thought more different that I already was.

Couch:How often does your character have "lazy days" where they don't get anything accomplished? Do they feel better or worse afterwards?

Sanna: Ugh, I try to not have "lazy days". Even if I don't have anything scheduled for the day I prefer to do something, even if its reading a book to learn something new. I absolutely hate the feeling if I don't accomplish anything.

Tarnn: I don't often get lazy days, I'm almost always working in some capacity or another. But unlike Sanna I do enjoy them. I just try to relax and maybe sleep extra. My lifestyle is pretty rough on my body so any chance to rest is a good one. I do feel better afterwards.

½ = How the character feels about people taller or shorter than them

Sanna: I don’t mind either way. I have friends that are shorter and taller than me. Even my companion is much taller than me. So I don’t mind one bit.

Tarnn: Being around people who were shorter than me used to bother me a lot, it just showed how different I was. But I have gotten used to being tall in Rata Sum. I kinda like having people who are taller than me, makes me feel more like how I should. Though humans that are shorter than me…

（・□・；） = What makes the character uncomfortable

Sanna: I’m very uncomfortable being around those that preach about “asuran supremacy”. I don’t believe in it at all. I believe all races have their strengths and weaknesses and things that they can bring to the table. And that doesn’t make anyone better or worse. Not to mention asura with that kind of thinking are the type to look down upon the human friends I make, and I don’t like anyone doing that to my friends.

Tarnn: Having done security for as long as I have, I’m uncomfortable with my race’s over dependence on golems. The amount of times I have had to fight off berserking golems in order to keep a lab safe has turned me off them completely. I always have my guard up around golems now.

Sanna: Rain! No wait sandstorm! Snow too. Sunny? Windy? Umm….I can’t decide.

Tarnn: A cool, sunny day if I have to be outside. I like rain when I have to be indoors, I like the sound and find it nice to read by.
