Like what do you mean Leith endured a week of torture in hopes that Martyn would betray Respen? He didn't have to, he could've captured him or knocked him out but he chose not to. Because he knew there was only one way that he had a chance of reaching Martyn. What do you mean Martyn gave Leith something to bite on when he was given the same punishment Leith provoked for him, even though Martyn had no such comfort? He doesn't care about justice, not when it's his friend getting hurt. What do you mean Leith is so guilty about leaving him that he feels he earned it?
"He could trust Martyn to give him no more and no less than the amount ordered." Girlllll he knows that Martyn wouldn't take revenge, even though he left Martyn to his own punishment? He trusts him so much!
What do you mean they both know that Leith abandoned Martyn to a horrible punishment and Martyn STILL wanted Leith to get away? He's angry that Leith came back. Still hurts with what he has to do. Still calls himself Leith's friend.
"whether king Respen wants it or not I'm feeding you" he is so conflicted, wants to help Leith so badly, trying to play both sides but finding out that he can't
And what do you mean Martyn would die before killing him? That he rebelled against Respen just for Leith, because he couldn't stand to kill him. What do you mean that after helping save Leith's life Martyn tried to leave because he thought Leith wouldn't want him around? What do you mean Leith begged him to stay and he did?
