May you please share us what art tools (both digital and traditional) that you use to create your artwork and comic pages. 😁
Here we have a Clip Studio Paint EX ver. 2, ideal for professional comics and stories (which I purchased to draw my original manga). I'm thinking of upgrading to ver. 3 but 1) this is more than ok and 2) I have ver 4 on my iPad, so if I want something more advanced, I will do it on the iPad, save it in my drive and then continue from there on PC.
I SUGGEST BUYING THIS ONE BECAUSE IT'S REALLY GOOD! WAIT FOR SALE SEASON AND YOU CAN GET THE BASE VERSION (Clip Studio Paint EX ver 1) FOR AS CHEAP AS 30$!!! ONE TIME PURCHASE!!!
For mobile devices, they have monthly plans and the product is ALWAYS updated to the latest version! I have CSP EX ver 4 on iPad for 4,99$/month!!
The second important program I use is Adobe InDesing.
"ADUAH WHY ARE YOU GIVING ADOBE MONEY ASDKFJHKLASJDFHLKAJSDFH"
I know, I know, but InDesign is the only REAL complete program to lay out comics or books: it gives you all the shortcuts to make a job easier without compromising quality. I tried other programs, but they always missed some functions.
I had to pay for it because my pc refused to install a cracked version... welp. BUT ANYWAY! Yes, I use InDesign to lay out pages and prepare the documents/books/comics for printing!
I try not to use Photoshop, but sometimes I need to because it works well with InDesign. That one is cracked, tho.
As hardware, I use an old Huion GT-191 V2, a screen tablet that works very well for a cheap price! It doubles as a PC screen and a tablet you can draw on as if it were a canvas! The pen is pretty basic; it feels like drawing with a pencil!
I've had it for 6 years, it still works well, and it has no scratches at all! It's pretty resistant!
While I'm out and on the go, I use an iPad Air from 2022 with a 10.9-inch screen and an Apple Pencil 2. My ex forced me buy it. Asshole move. But I'm glad I got it, because it has been my favourite companion for the last 2 years (and will be again soon, since I need to take this PC to a technician because it's making strange noises).
Gotta admit, it's pretty cool and pen is FENOMENAL!! A good investment if you wanna make art your career! But that's the only Apple thing I'll get.
And the screen is all scratched after 4 years. Yikes.
Unfortunately, I don't use professional pen and paper anymore for drawing traditionally, because I don't draw traditionally anymore. I don't have room in my house to keep things, so I switched to digital.
Now my setup is: cheapest pencil, cheapest eraser, cheapest sketch book. That's it. I sketch on paper, then pass it on to digital!
Many moons ago, I used Deleter Ruler Paper in B4 for comics and A4 for silly things. I used a Deleter G-pen and Deleter Black Ink 2 for inking. Plus various rulers and stuff. For sketching, I used Staedtler pencil lead 0.5 HB or 2B, depending on the sketch, and Deleter Light Blue pencil leads for the initial composition. The mechanical pencils were Staedtler, too.
I colored using both Copic Markers and Faber Caster colored Pencils. But I can't colour with Copics, lol.
And that's basically it!!!
Hope this was interesting!
