☹ My muse is jealous over someone else showing interest in yours
Here was the thing about Marley and Jake’s friendship - casual was key. The two spent a lot of time together as of late, whether it was netflix and chill or goofing around on the football field during free period to stretch and practice respective dance routines - which usually ended with Marley draped over his shoulder or the pair spraying each other with ice cold water bottles. But then the bell would ring and Marley would drift into her friends and Jake do his own thing and they both knew if they wanted a hook up, the other was just a text away. They were friends. Honestly, as of late, it felt like he was her best friend.
So when he drove her to the homecoming after party, held by the infamous Santana Lopez herself, she figured that the two of them would make their rounds, get some drinks and eventually make their way back to each other before the night was through, as per usual. Marley had obviously went to the dance earlier with a date - but he was a jock, and in true jock nature, spent the rest of his night shotgunning beers with the rest of the football team. It was a relief, to be honest. The blonde was over trying to keep up appearances at this point of the night.
She knew Jake’s mom usually worked overnights on Friday and wasn’t exactly a stranger to inviting herself over - not that he’d ever complained about it. So, finishing off her last drink of the evening, she dismissed herself from her fellow cheerios and weaved through the crowd of party goers to find him. Santana’s house was huge, so it took a couple minutes and a few main rooms before Marley made it too the kitchen - halting in her spot when she caught Jake in close proximity with some skank! girl who hung out underneath the bleachers. Not exactly who she pictured as his type, but he didn’t seem all that opposed to the way her hand ran over the collar of his leather jacket.
She didn’t know why it pissed her off so much. God knows Jake had seen many a boys flirt with her in the past. In what universe was she the one who god jealous over something so stupid? But she did. She felt annoyance wash over her features, but despite the response it was invoking - she couldn’t look away. Pulling out her phone, she ran through her contacts until she found someone remotely dependable to give her a sober lift home, sending them a text asking them to do so before constructing one for Jake.
“Tired. Going home, ttyl”.
