OH it’s that monster he’s looking for! I guess this is the first time it’s actually appeared in the current narrative, outside of the two flashbacks? Really into the idea of mysterious powerful figures on the edge of stories; interested in exploring that in greater depth and building up to this sort of reveal seeming more consequential than it seems to me right now. I should try to be less negative about this comic tho

More Swing You Sinners in T-O-E’s face, and I just noticed all of his faces in this flashback are from cartoons! I like that. Maybe this is the first time he’s done the electricity-thing? I think he’s the only Machine Man ever shown to do that, and I thought it was some side-effect of living forever, but I guess that is not the case and nothing makes sense and don’t worry about it.

A more literalistic and continuity-obsessed approach to Overside would leave room for a bunch of T-O-E prequel material; I’m curious what happened to him after this but I don’t like answering questions like that too specifically. I like how the little brother talks.

I don’t know anything about this setting. Vattu is so grounded and stationary a story lately that I really miss having a story that allowed for wandering around and making up new places at need. Going through this comic like this is showing me all of these little things that I was trying to do with art that I don’t do lately.

The BLEACH BEAST, again! We’ve only seen it in flashbacks so far; maybe it will make sense eventually? It still feels weird to see T-O-E as a kid, thousands of years ago.
