Excerpt:

Yoruichi: However... You didn’t really answer the earlier question about coming here as an American. What would you say was the biggest change you had to deal with? Yoruichi: Was it the squat toilets? Westly: Yeah, kinda. I don’t have very good balance and due to injuries to my back in the past, it's hard to squat down to use them! Yoruichi: They do require a certain range of motion in the ankles. Don’t worry, even the Japanese hate them. They only persist because of economics. Tessai: I believe Tenchō retained them as long as he did simply for the aesthetic. It is fortunate that our facilities had been upgraded by the time you arrived. Yoruichi: I wonder who was responsible for that. Westly: Yeah! [ soft laughter ] I wonder...

A young kid named Miyuki was kind enough to trade it for the last packet of spearmint gum I had in my pocket. Anywhoozies, just be glad it’s not Mermaid Melody themed. I feel like that one would’ve been more trouble than it’s worth.” 

A beat, and then: “Not that there’s anything wrong with those shows. I watched them both when I was younger. I watched a couple of One Piece episodes too, and then I forgot which ones I watched. Which, yes, is very ironic, considering I’m in love with a pirate. That’s a story for another time, though. If you want to hear it.” And speaking of which: “Figured you’re more of a... bow and arrow type of person.” Her eyes land on the Quincy cross replica. “Like Rei! You know...? From Sailor Moon? Doesn’t matter. The point is: this was the best I could do. And I hope you like it.”
