Milo’s Sanctuary is the real deal. They do amazing work and save the most challenged special needs kitties at their sanctuary in Palmdale, California.

They are at risk of closing down unless they get immediate funding.

Pixie- 4 weeks, unaltered female, 0.88lbs

Update 9/25: A wood's lamp was positive on a tiny patch of alopecia on Pixie's paw, so she is now being treated for ringworm while a fungal culture is pending. Unfortunately Pixie is also struggling to defecate, so has been getting a combination of warm fluids, Lactulose, and Miralax to hopefully help.

Teeny tiny Pixie was brought to the shelter by Animal Control after being found all alone. We're thankful she was discovered and brought to us when she was, as the poor little lady's eyes were crusted shut, preventing her from being able to see.

Upon examination, our vets noted that Pixie is underweight and has micro-ophtalmia (a developmental disorder of the eye in which one or both eyes are abnormally small) with upper eyelid agenesis. She's been started on eye meds and will need both eyes removed in the future.

Pixie is eating gruel from a syringe well, and although a little scared (understandably), is still easily handleable and should come around quickly.

Pixie is available immediately for rescue pick-up, and due to her current medical needs, we are seeking placement for her ASAP.

i found oliver in a storm drain. he was feral, malnourished, flea ridden, with an eye infection so severe he lost his eyes. three days and one very long vet visit later, he’s eating food and meowing. he loves sitting on my chest and being pet under the chin.

In a world full of indifference this is a shout out to the good people Blind Cat Rescue & Sanctuary. 

We are a lifetime care sanctuary for blind, FIV & Leukemia positive cats  located in St. Pauls, North Carolina (USA).  In 2005, we built our first building as a safe place for blind cats who were deemed not adoptable by regular shelters and were going to be euthanized because they were blind.  In 2011,  we built a second shelter to provide a safe place for Leukemia positive (FELV+) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+) cats who otherwise would be killed because they tested positive for these viruses.

This week they are featuring Ella:

Ella came to us a few hours before she was to be euthanized at our local animal control facility. She was abused, blind, starved and had broken bones in her back.  She was also  understandably afraid of people.  There is no telling what kind of horror she had survived! She immediately received the medical care she needed. Because of wonderful generous people like YOU she is alive and healthy being loved and cared for at Blind Cat Rescue.  When you donate, you help a cat like Ella that was desperate for help .

The kitties wanted some adventure in their lives

Anyway. The first special needs kitten I ever fostered was a little blind kitten named Benjamin. A woman found him on her porch at about 4 weeks olds and wanted to find a vet that would euthanize him because he had an upper respiratory infection and was blind due to severe infection in his eye. The minute I saw that post I knew I wanted to foster him. Wonderful people have since adopted him and he’s so handsome and so loved. They came in last Thursday and I got to see him and his sister Ava- who is also a previous foster and the actual littermate of my Gus Gus, who needed that same eye surgery Gus had- and it made my heart so happy! The first couple pics are a little gruesome but he’s a cutie!

I've been doing yoga lately to help with a back injury and today my kitty decided to join me 💖😭 I'm healed lmao
