Blind // Yoo Kihyun - 18 Finale
Blind Chapter 17 / Eighteen Finale
Seeing your eyes was the highlight of most of Kihyun’s days.
He was patient and caring and loving. He waited for you day in and day out. He sat by your side and would sing to you, and read to you; he would hold your hand and sit silently if that’s what you wanted.
The pain was subsiding, day by day. Kihyun was surprised how long the transfusions were taking. Not that you needed more, just that your blood was having difficulties cycling back through. Your wounds were scars now, but it had been a few days—normally they’d have been scars in a day or less. You often complained about pain, about feeling like your arm was entirely severed from your body, but he stood with you, by your side, through all of it.
Today he’d just shown up from your dad’s house, the first one of the three of them at the hospital. He had a horrible dream the previous night about you not making it through the night, so he hopped out of bed first, wanting to see you before anything else.
He came into your room and you just laid there as you normally did. Your tubes had mostly been removed by this point—you were eating and breathing on your own again. You’d dealt with some nasty infections that caused your health to decline a bit, but you seemed to be doing a lot better.
“Hey,” he whispered as he came up to your bedside.
“Hi,” you replied hoarsely, your eyes still closed.
“Can I see those beautiful eyes?” he asked you, taking your hand to give it a tight squeeze.
Your eyes fluttered open to look at him, your vision a little blurry at first since you weren’t used to the light. His smile came into focus as he looked at you and watched him mouth the word wow. “How are you feeling today?” he asked you, wanting to stay by your side right there instead of moving to his seat.
“I’m doing better; it doesn’t hurt as bad anymore and I’m glad to have all those tubes out,” you told him, motioning to your face with your free hand when referencing the tubes.
“Mmhm,” he hummed, “your aunty is, too. They’re thinking you can go home today,” he said, his smile growing just a little bit. He watched your lips pull into a smile too as you adjusted to be more square on your back.
“Yeah, they’ve had me walking while you aren’t here just to make sure I have the strength. But I never felt weak, really.”
“She only has so much leeway with you, sweetheart,” Kihyun laughed, reminding you of the fact that most normal doctors weren’t sure how to treat demi-gods as he pushed your hair back. “They have to treat you like you’re any other patient, even if you’re not.”
“I know, but I just want to go home; I’m sure my boy’s missing table scraps,” you said, referring to your dog who was quite capable himself to find food in the forest, so you weren’t concerned.
Kihyun’s lips pursed a little bit. Once you were out of the hospital, he was concerned what his fate would be. He was obviously well enough to be on his own, and had been for a while, but considering the developments between the two of you, he was a little in the dark concerning where he would end up when it was all said and done.
“I want you to go home, too,” he said, kind of sadly.
He could see it click on your face.
“You’ve been in that trailer for four years…” you muttered, “and now that it’s all over…”
“I don’t really have a home,” Kihyun laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck.
“Kihyun…” you trailed off, reaching for him and he took your hand, lacing your fingers.
“I don’t want to be invasive,” he said—typical Kihyun.
“Are you really invading at this point?” you asked and there was a looming silence between the two of you. He looked at you for a bit before looking away, hoping you’d further explain. “Kihyun, at the end there, I know you were fit enough to be out on your own. Frankly, I didn’t want you to go. I still don’t want you to go. You slept in my bed and…” you trailed again.
“And I don’t regret anything that happened,” he reassured you, still gripping your hand. “Do you?”
“Of course I don’t.”
“If I had a home… you know I’d be begging you to move in. You know I’d be telling you how much I’d miss you if you didn’t. I know the forest is your responsibility, and you could never leave, but I just—”
“Stay with me, for good,” you interrupted.
His mouth was still agape, trying to look for words, to finish his sentence that you had interrupted, but he couldn’t wrack his brain for anything to say, still trying to process what you’d said. He whispered your name after a minute before the door opened.
It was your father, his face beaming after having stood outside your hospital room to listen to the interaction between the two of you. “I think he’s good for you,” your father mentioned, stepping around Kihyun to his side. He turned his head to look over the young male to his right to give him a good over, his smile never leaving his face. “I’ve never seen you happy, until him,” he spoke, talking to you but still watching Kihyun. “I’ve never seen you smile, I’ve never seen you beam, I’ve never seen you have such a reason to live, until him.”
Kihyun was blushing now. Was he getting your father’s blessing, even if it was just to date you? Or move in with you? Or whatever it was that you were doing? He looked away from your dad, eyes panning to you, almost requesting your assistance or any type of advice.
“Dad,” you whined, your own blush filling your face. Kihyun’s fingers, wrapped around yours, pulled your hand deeper into his—a small motion that your dad noticed.
“I’m just saying; he’s been with me and Hoseok for a few days—he’s very husband-y. He’s a good cleaner, a good cook, he’ll take care of you, I can tell,” your dad continues, Kihyun’s blush growing, fingers wrapping tighter around yours. You, on the other hand, couldn’t turn any way to help cover your blush. You couldn’t even keep your eyes on Kihyun’s you were so embarrassed. That was typical of your dad.
“I really just came in to see how you were doing. They’re thinking you can go home today,” he told you, in almost the same tone as Kihyun.
“I know, dad, Kihyun told me,” you whispered back, happy that he was there to see you but hoping he would just leave for a minute while you and Kihyun recuperate from the never-ending embarrassment. He gave you a soft smile, a soft smile that changed to a you know what to do smile as it shifted to Kihyun before he turned on his heel and was on his way out, saying that he’d come back at another time.
The whole thing would be easy, you thought. All of Kihyun’s belongings were already there—anything he’d get could just be at your place. There was nothing really preventing Kihyun from moving in with you other than each your own reservations. But what were they even really about? It’s not like he hadn’t slept in your bed or stayed with you for days already.
“You could just stay, you know,” you suggested.
Kihyun sighed a bit, searching for something to say. Not really to deny you, or himself, but just to say something.
“Don’t you think it’s a little… fast?” he asked after moments of contemplation.
“Nothing about this, about us, has been slow, Kihyun,” you reminded him, though you often recalled that you tried to make it slow, without being hurled into the state you are now that may have gone over much better. But here you were, the circumstances being what they were and Kihyun was silently agreeing with you in the form of a gentle nod.
You two decided to drop the conversation for now—perhaps it was a better one to have at a different time. The day ended up with you being discharged, thankfully. You’d spent some time at your dad’s just catching up and checking on Wonho and the likes, Kihyun always at your side.
Until Wonho had dragged you away for a serious conversation. He took you into the backroom, the one that used to be your bedroom, and had you look around for a bit. He could see the nostalgia, all the feeling of childhood rush back to you after being thrown into adulthood so quickly considering the death of your mother. He watched you as he sat on your bed, waiting until you were ready.
“What did you need to say, Hoseok?” you finally asked him, your fingers touching over your old dresser. The room had remained exactly the same from the time you were a little kid, it was almost eerie.
“I want to talk to you about Kihyun,” he said.
“I gathered that,” you replied bluntly. “I mean, what do you need to say about him.”
“Listen to me very closely. Kihyun has a past, okay? We all do. I just want to warn you about the PTSD, some nights he’ll snap, some nights he’ll need to be alone, some nights he’ll sleep with a knife clutched to his chest. Give him time; I know he wants to hurl into this blindly with you, but you need to understand where we’ve been for the last four years,” he tried to explain to you. It quickly caught your attention, that was for sure.
For the time that Kihyun had been there, you’d only experience one mild melt-down; Hoseok was warning you of things a lot more serious than that. You honestly hadn’t even taken into consideration the PTSD.
“Don’t get me wrong,” he said, an utterance of your name after when he felt like he was losing you, “don’t focus on that, just keep it at the back of your mind—what needs to be at the front is that he loves you. I know he does. I see it in the way he looks at you, the need to be by your side every second of the day. Despite anything that the two of you go through that I know you’ll know is solvable, above it all remember how he feels for you,” he continued, finally taking your shoulders after standing to really keep your attention.
“And I know you love him. It’s not going to be a glittering trail; it’s going to be rough. There’s going to be fights, you’re going to yell, you’re going to get mad, he’s going to opt to sleep in the guest bed but know none of it matters because I know you’re his priority now.”
You nodded your head. You had figured all of this from the very beginning. Nothing good in life was every easy. “I don’t know if he’ll stay with you; I really don’t. No matter what he chooses, know he’s choosing it because he thinks that’s best for you. Because he wants to do what’s good for you, what’s right for you. He’s crazy about you; believe me when I say that.”
“I do,” you replied, eyes finally catching his.
He brought you into a tight hug, reminding you how much he missed you and if you ever needed anything, he and dad would be there for you no matter what. He gave you one last encouraging go before sending you back out into the main room where your father and Kihyun looked like they had just gotten out of a serious conversation.
Kihyun was leaned forward with his elbows on his knees, hands clasped as he looked to the floor until he noticed you and Wonho. You saw the look in his eye—it was time to head back up.
Whether or not he was going to stay, all of his things were at your place, so he followed you back when you were ready. Your dad drove the two of you up to the clearing, but it was up to you from there to get to your home. Kihyun took your hand as you headed for the wall of trees, dragging him behind you until you came to it. A heavy sigh fell from your lips as you looked at it, following the trunks up to the canopy above and back down to take your first step.
It was on a rock already there, but the earth shifted slowly. You clearly weren’t back to full strength, but it would have to do. The more you climbed, the more the stairs formed, but the more your wounds hurt. Kihyun grabbed your hand tighter, concern crossing his face as he cleared his throat, causing you to look back.
Silently he asked if you were okay. You just turned your head back forward and with a determined growl in your throat, proceeded up the mountain. At this point he was behind you for safety purposes, but you made the trek with him and soon you were at your front door. You grabbed the handle before you stopped and turned to Kihyun.
“Before we go in, I want you to know that I really wish you’d stay. I know things have been fast between us and I know that’s recipe for disaster and I know you need to get your feet back under you—if it turns out sour I’m sure Hoseok would help you. But I just can’t imagine… I can’t imagine being without you anymore,” you explained, your eyes finding his feet first, gradually moving up to his eyes as you continued your short speech.
Kihyun marveled you, hands by his sides as he watched you speak. He could hear everything you were saying, and could feel the way it tickled his heart, but there was just one matter to take care of.
“Then allow me to formally ask you to be mine,” he said, taking your hand again to lift it to his lips. He kissed every one of your knuckles before the back of your hand and then tugged you in. “Will you be?” he asked, his breath fanning your face, he was that close.
“Yes; I will,” you replied, a smile breaking across your face especially as he kissed your forehead.
“Perfect,” he whispered, hoisting you up into his arms bridal-style. You’d turned the knob enough that the door unlatched, so he had no problem pushing through it to carry you into your home. Unconventional, but you’d be lying if it didn’t send butterflies through your stomach.
Here, in your home up on the mountain, with the man you love—there was no place you’d rather be.

Kihyun’s warm body on your back comforted you back to sleep, but only for a little while. The sun was blaring through your blinds now and onto your face. When you shifted, Kihyun shifted with you; you smiled, happy he was still there. Your hand which rested over the top of his curled over to interlock your fingers, eliciting a hum from Kihyun right into your ear.
“Did you fall back asleep?” he asked you, his voice a little raspy, signifying that he sure did.

The tags on your dog’s collar jingled as he jumped down from the bed, but the sound of your door creaking open was quite possibly the loudest sound of your life. Your heart was beating in your ears, but not even that drowned it out. Steadily you sat, gripping the covers in your lap as your eyes strained to look through the darkness. The door had opened enough for a body to slip through, but you still weren’t able to see so quickly you reached over to flip the lamp on.
It startled you, Kihyun’s face poking through your door, and a hand cupped over your heart as you exhaled your held breath. His eyes were concerned, his brow drawn together as he looked at you.

Blind Chapter 6 / Seven / Blind Chapter 8
Your pup led the way up the mountain as you sprinted, sprinted as fast as you could through the trees, around the rocks and other shrubs; you could tell in Kihyun’s eyes, the second he got there, the second he was safe, his primary concern was Minhyuk. You had to tell him. There was no time to waste. You hoisted his heavy suitcase in your hands—thank god because you weren’t sure what you were going to do about Kihyun and clothing. You’d throw them all in the wash the second you got there; there was no telling how long it had been since they’d last been washed.
It didn’t really matter, it would come back to you later; now your hand turned the knob of your front door in such haste, you almost tore it off when you flung the door back closed. You dropped Kihyun’s heavy case on the floor near the front door as you made your way to the guest room. Without thinking, and without knocking, you opened the door and immediately regretted it.

Blind Chapter Two
Tension.
Tension was growing among the boys. It had been for a while. Jooheon was getting antsy with all of this. There was some disagreement among the gang. Jooheon was tired of leaving their victims in the forest.
There was a clearing where the grass grew short; the trees—nowhere.
Ahhhhh! Blind!! It was so cute I loved it. I also liked that you made it more real by including the fact that he's got shit to figure out too, you're right it is super important. And you added the part about the dog.. I was thinking about the pup lol Kihyun is husband-y that part made me laugh its true and embarrassing. You ended it beautifully! It was everything I could ask for <3
This has sat in my askbox for a few days and I’m sorry. I had a small session of separation anxiety from Blind so I decided to basically just stay off this blog for a day or so. BUT I’LL ANSWER IT NOW.
I try to address everything as much as possible. Everyone knew it wasn’t going to be all rainbow’s and butterflies (Or that it shouldn’t be, because that’s not how life works. LOL) but yeah, I needed to put that in there about Kihyun because it’s not like I can just forget his background right? I’m glad you liked the ending, I was pretty hesitant about it (because I’m literally the worst at ending anything) but I think it came out alright and I’m getting a lot of good feedback about it so, I’m happy. :) <3 <3 <3 And very, very, very proud.
I ran out of room in the last ask but honestly one of my favorite parts of the fic was at the end where Wonho reminds her that despite Kihyun loving her so much, he also has things that he needs to deal with and it'll take time for him to heal. It makes it just seem so much more realistic that not everything will be happily ever after and that they'll have ups and downs. I just really like how that was brought up because it's something most people tend to look over. Gn for real now lol❤️❤️
Ugh you’re just the sweetest coming in here with specific parts--parts that are very personal to me right now and yes, they are often overlooked and I felt it very important to include. I’m glad you messaged me about that because it reminds me that yes, they are real problems, and yes, they do need to be dealt with. It does not stop people from loving and being loved, but that they deserve love despite those things. <3
Thank you for this message, also, as it was very important.
Goodnight dear. <3
