Looking Back At Sophomore Year Of High School
Sophomore year has ended and its time for summer of 2014 to prepare for junior year of high school. It is really crazy to me how fast sophomore year went and looking back just how amazing it was. Starting with being in an amazing journalism class. I took journalistic writing so then in the next few years I could take Newspaper and Yearbook. At first I thought this class was just another class, but this class ended up being like a real family. Yeah we picked on eachother and stuff but yet when someone was down people were always there to pick you up. Also sophomore year I got my drivers license. So no more riding the bus for me. Unfortunatly my great grandmother did pass away on my birthday, she is in a better place and there is no more suffering on this Earth anymore. This year in journalism my teacher told us to put down three people to be our dream interview. My list was 1. Charles Trippy, 2. Shay Carl and the Shaytards, and 3, Chef Gordan Ramsay. I decided why not I am going to try to contact Charles Trippy. After a while I did get a hold of Charles Trippy. Then in December I found out that We The Kings (one of my favorite bands and Charles is the bass player for) was coming to my hometown for a show in March. I was so excited. I remember I was freaking out because they were coming. I immediatly bought my tickets and emailed Charles and found their band manager to contact about an interview. I remember when Charles emailed me back I was crying and my mom thought I was crazy but its like what ever. After talking to his tour manager I did get to interview We The Kings. I remember it was the day before the interview and his tour manager was still trying to find a time and I was really stressed because I really wanted this interview. And then she called me back and said it was on for 2:00 pm at the venue the next day. I remember I was absolutly speachless. Literally, words could not form out of my mouth. One of my biggest dreams I have ever had was about to come true. So the day of the interview came. I went to school for first hour which was journalism then got to go. I had nothing to do so I went to grandmas house and she ended up not being home. I called my friend Haley to see if she wanted to hang out because she is a college student so we went to Wal*Mart to go find beach balls for Nerd Rock because Charles said in one of his vlogs to bring Nerd Rock beach balls. Unfortunatly, no place had beachballs in March. So, we just went to B&B Bagel to eat Bagels to talk about how excited we were. So after I met Haley for lunch, I had about an hour or so before the interview so I headed downtown where the venue is and went to the local coffee shop that is right next to the Blue Note because I needed to charge my phone. When I got there I ran into Coley and Hunter and of course I talked to them because they are some of the members of my favorite band. So I talked to them and then I went to a table to charge my phone and drink coffee. One thing I wish I did was really talk to them and meet them, but I wasn't really thinking at the time because there were so many things going through my mind. So I drink my coffee and its about time to leave for the interview. I had to call their tour manager (Duncan) so he could let me in. I called Duncan and he led me downstairs at the venue. He said Charles should be down in a minute. I heard Charles coming downstairs because he was vlogging. He came down stairs. I was so happy and nervous. It was Charles Trippy. This person who I watch on YouTube everyday who has inspried so many people and I was getting to interview him. So, I got to interview Charles about him before Travis got there because Travis went on a run. It was an overall amazing experience getting to interview them because I got to see their personalities and it was so funny because Charles had ADD so he got distracted a little bit with a few things at the venue which I thought it was funny. Charles and Travis are both really cool people when they vlog and when they don't vlog. It's awesome that a band has 3 vloggers and they share their life to everybody on the internet every single day. The interview and the concert goes down as one of my favorite memories. I didn't get to finish my interview with Charles and Travis but I want to start writing what I have then back in August try getting a hold of them again. The concert was amazing. It goes down as the best concert I have ever been to. Now, thats just one part of my sophomore year. Sophomore Year I got my first job which I still work at the job. Its not the best job and it's not the worst job. Its a job that I have. This year God has really opened my eyes to so many things. I got to start a club at my school callled Fellowship of Christian Students for any Christian to come and feel safe and learn and get to feel God's Grace. He has changed my views on things and has really helped me not to judge somebdoy by one thing or action because you never know what their cirumstance is. I have also gained more confidence this year when it comes to interviewing people and really doing things on my own and being more independant. Sophomore year of high school has really opened my eyes and I cannot wait to see what summer has in store when it comes to the trips that I get to go on with my youth group and the relationships that i build on my way this summer going into junior year. Some goals I have set for junior year when it comes to people I want to interview is 1. Get a hold of Charles and really interivew him about why he makes videos. 2. Interview Shay Carl or try to set one up, 3. Interview Si or a few people from Duck Dynasty.
