“Don’t need nothin’ but a good time. How can I resist? Ain’t lookin’ for nothin’ but a good time and it don’t get better than this.” Those lyrics are true for the most part except I’m not currently looking for a good time because I’m writing this from my couch in my jammies so all I’m really looking for is the warmth of my bed after I’m done with this. What is pretty true though is when it comes to blonde ales, it really doesn’t get much better than this. If you haven’t had a blonde ale yet there is either no fucking hope for you or you’ve never been to a brewery because just about every menu sports one of these on it but normally it doesn’t get nearly as good of a treatment as it has here. A great funk and musty flavor starts things off with those blonde ale sweet flavors mixing in towards the middle before closing up shop with more of those funky delicious flavors. I honestly hate Bret Michaels because his dating show sucked and was filled with star fuckers from the 80s, his bandana makes him look like a gay motorcyclist, and he has diabetes which basically destroys any kind of bad ass rock star credibility he ever had because now I just see him pricking his frail finger and checking his sugar levels between every song. If you get a chance to check these guys out I’d do it ASAP because they are on the verge of blowing up and I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw these beers in cans in the next year getting traded for some of the harder to find beers out there. This is a great entry beer for this who haven’t gotten to experience the splendor of brett before and for you bastards out there, you definitely should pick this up because this is definitely one of the better examples of the style on the market.

Mother Earth Born Blonde (Picked up at Bev-Mo). A 3 of 4. A simple and good blonde ale -- some nice light grain sweetness throughout and finishes clean. Some faint grassy and floral notes and has a nice little bit of sticky lacing. A good exemplar of the style.

Hop Blonde (Montauk)

With this beer my travels through Montauk’s lineup comes to a close for now. I am actually pretty pissed about it because I was really getting used to crushing all this beer that they sent out on a daily basis but I guess now I’ll just have to get off my ass and visit them ASAP. I decided to end things with Hop Blonde not because I saved the best for last but mainly because I wanted to wait a while before making fun of you golden haired folks again. I mean, Kanye West just joined your ranks with his strange ass bleached hair so that pretty much sums up your people. Can I say “your people” without it sounding super racist? I guess we’ll see. This has a bright and crisp cracker malt flavor to start with some floral hops mixing in afterwards battering up the sweetness before ending with a mildly vanilla flavor and more malt sweetness to close. When I say vanilla I don’t want you to get the wrong idea because then Sean Spicer will be tweeting about how this isn’t the beer of the future because he can’t taste the vanilla but there are definitely hints of it here that really make this beer worth trying. If you are looking for an easy way to make the leap up to craft beer, pick this up and enjoy because this is about as easy of a transition beer as you can find. As for you pros, snag a can and kick back and relax because after drinking this you’re not going to want to do shit. Prost!

Ghost Bear (Conshohocken)

I feel like I really missed my calling in life. I feel like I would have been a kick ass nature host because A) I absolutely love animals B) I love to travel and C) I look damn good in short khaki shorts. Actually now that I’m thinking about it I would actually make a pretty shitty nature host because A) I would kill every reptile I came across B) Fuck birds and C) If I actually saw a “ghost bear” in the wild I’d shit myself. I’ve actually read that this beer is named after Shayne Gostisbehere which is a shame because it’s pretty damn good and fuck the Flyers! BOOM! In your face! Devils 4 Lyfe! Ok back to the beer. A toasty malt cracker flavor starts things off with a borderline smoky flavor before some caramel sweetness mixes in all while leading up to a crisp and bright mix of the malt and sweetness. This is definitely on the better side of golden ales and I have to give it to Conshohocken Brewing for basically owning every style that they take on. As with any golden ale, this is definitely a great starting point for the newbies out there but this one takes it one step further by actually being a unique and great tasting golden ale so don’t wait any longer and go grab a can ASAP. For you bastards, pick this up if it’s available but just don’t go too far out of your way to snag a 4 pack.

Belo Blonde (Novo Brazil)

Ahhhhh, it’s nice coming back to Novo Brazil’s lineup after a little time off because it makes you appreciate the uniqueness of their beers that much more. This blonde is Brazilian-Style which means it’s either poorly educated, has a high crime rate, suffers from income inequality, or is just plain ol’ corrupt. Sorry Brazil, but you know it’s true. Actually, I’m thinking that the reason for the Brazilian-Style is because this beer is so clean tasting that it probably reminds you of their famous waxing in which your croch-ital area comes out looking smoother than a shell-less hard boiled egg covered in polyurethane. I don’t think I could ever go for a Brazilian waxing because even though I keep a low profile down there, I would just worry that it would rip my entire dick and balls off and I kindddddddddddda need those, for now at least. Come talk to me when I’m 70 and I might change my mind once they turn into soft pudding filled flesh colored zip-lock bags covered in white curly bushes. Anywho, this really is a different approach to a beer that so many breweries take for granted and it’s nice to see someone give this the treatment it deserves. A nice initial honey sweetness starts things off before some fruity grape and tropical fruit flavor mixes in with even more sweetness with a mild bitterness before ending with a funky cracker like malt tartness to close. I’m so glad that these colorful cans don’t outshine the brews inside of them because even though I originally became interested in Novo Brazil because of their art work, it’s the liquid gold inside that has really hooked me. Speaking of liquid gold, Trump likes to get peed on by prostitutes. Even if that’s not true I just like reading it back to myself. If you are a first timer and are looking for a little golden-ale-shower yourself, this is definitely one of the best starting points around but just know that not many breweries put this much effort into the style so really savor every sip of this. As for you R. Kelly professionals, pop the top on this can and let it flow all over your face… I mean down your throat because it’s a must buy. Did I mention that Trump likes to get peed on? Ok good.

This is not my first time drinking La Chouffe. I am a huge fan of this beer and often buy it around Christmas. The weather was perfect and I drank this beer with my window open, enjoying the notes of clove and banana, while reading. 8/10

0259: BrewDog, Prototype Blonde Ale

Tuli tuossa ostettua koirapanimon mysteeriboksi. EFP-alennusten jälkeen 24 pulloa yllätystä maksoi noin 58€ toimitettuna. Ei siis mitenkään hirveän hintainen. Sisältö oli vähemmän yllättävä. BrewDogin perus oluita, eri protoa ja yksi AB-sarjalainen. Tuleepahan nyt kokeiltua näitä proto jakin - kyllä laadukas olut aina tenttipäivän jälkeen maistuu!

Blond Ale

Hyvin tyylinsä mukaisen näköistä - todella vaaleaa ja kirkasta olutta. Hieman kullertavan keltaista olutta, ohuella ja valkoisella vaahdolla, joka katoaa alta aikayksikön. Niin kirkas tämä on, että vähintäänkin mietityttää, että onko tämä suodatettu ihan kunnolla.  Hunajamallas ainesosaluettelossa luo mielenkiintoa tähän protoon. Muut käytetyt maltaat ovat pale ja vehnä. Humalina ovat hallertaulaiset mittelfruh ja perle. Kyseessä siis vaalea britti saksalaismausteilla. Tuoksu on hyvin maanläheinen. Keksejä raikkaalla suomaalla, kauniina kesäpäivänä. Vähän mitäänsanomaton mutta ihan laadukkaalta vaikuttava. Maku on hyvin kevyt. Tietynlainen voimaisuus tulee jälkimaussa. Tämä esittää hyvin kipakkaa ja raikasta olutta mutta makunautinto loppuu aika lyhyeen. Vaalean keksimäinen ja lopussa voinen. Kyllähän tätä juo, varsinkin janojuomana, mutta ei tästä kannata mitään wow-efektiä yrittää löytää.
