Through ominous cloud cover and approaching showers and thunderstorms... We didn't give up! I had a really great night with four ladies. Three of whom I met for the first time @simoneherrlingerphotography, @annculpphotography and one of my long time astro friends @anntekatch. I had lofty plans to track the eclipse for some deeper images with the milky way and background stars but in the end the tracking was only useful for making sure that I wouldn't lose the moon behind the clouds. I hope many of you had better luck or at least a memorable experience. Regardless of whether you actually get a chance to see this lunar event, you will most definitely feel the effects of it. • ₩ҤλŦ ł$ łŦ? It’s the first full moon of the year, called a Wolf moon (since they always love to howl at the 🌝 during this part of winter), a Super moon because the moon is at its closest to Earth making it appear especially large, and the Blood refers to the lunar eclipse - and the red hue the moon takes on due to the way light is refracted through the atmosphere (in the same way the sky lights up at sunrise 🌅 and sunset). • $Ø ҤØ₩ λM ł GØł₦G ŦØ BE λ₣₣E₡ŦEÐ? This is a time of energetic shift; transformation. A time for letting go of what no longer serves us, and ushering in the new. I got a grab of the blood moon last night. I really didn’t like how this turned out since it’s so grainy and my tripod took a blow. But I’m glad I still got it......

The Super-Blood-Wolf moon January 20-21, 2019, had an unusual event take on place.: 1) It was the “super” moon (the moon comes slightly closer to Earth than normal & looks a bit bigger than normal); 2) The transition from Capricorn to Aquarius in the astrology cycle; 3) the actual full moon (“Wolf” moon for January); and 4) a rare, total lunar eclipse - usually referred to as a “Blood Moon” as the moon takes on a reddish hue (red color wavelength slightly bends due to the atmosphere). Any one of these happening is a normal occurrence. But all four at the same time? That’s just incredible timing. BTW, I froze my butt off for this shot (18 degrees F but felt like -8 degrees). It was the coldest night we’ve had in the past four months.
