Bucky often thought these days in terms of colors. He had green days, blue days, things were black or white. He had days where he felt canary yellow and carefree in the sun in Wakanda. He had things sorted now, right from wrong. On his blue days he thought of the darker times.
Then there were red days. Days where he thought of that damned red star on that accursed arm, days bathed in blood, anger. A freight car.
However, today sitting on his plot of land, innocently eating a plum, the boy came by. It was the boy from the battle those years ago, but he was...older. And his cheekys were rosy from the sun. Suddenly, red didn’t seem like such a terrible color.
“White Wolf, this is Peter. He’s an exchange student here for the summer, working with me,” Shuri said in passing, leaving them for a moment to tend to a call from the lab.
“White Wolf, huh? It’s nice to see you again, on better terms,” Peter rambled, the rubescent color of his cheeks trailing down his neck. Bucky wanted to see how far that blush traveled, what other colors he could make the boy turn.
“Yeah. Good to see you, too, Peter,” Bucky said with a wink, biting into his plum. This summer would certainly turn out to be sweet.
