Creative Projects Update

Sorry I've been kind of absent for the last couple months. The Moth and the Bear isn't in any trouble, but it's on hold for now. I emerged from my Murderbot-induced fugue state foaming at the mouth to revisit a story I started in high school in 2010, and somehow in the last two or three weeks I've slammed out more than 15,000 words of worldbuilding, character stuff, and story snippets, as well as a draft of a first chapter.

This is all making me very happy, because I had wanted to work on another project between TMatB books 3 and 4, but nothing was catching my focus until this. My current plan is to write at least a few full chapters, if not a full novella, and post it chapter by chapter once I'm either A) done with it or B) far enough along I'm confident in all the story elements. It's possible I won't get to all that before reinvesting in TMatB, but it's a win either way, for me. So I'm not going to sweat it.

It's a very different vibe from TMatB, firmly in the realm of scifi (*cough cough* there's a reason Murderbot spurred me to do this). It's not g/t or fantasy, it's a near-future cyberpunk setting with hackers and machine intelligence and reflections on consciousness, platonic love and betrayal, death and cynicism and regret, medical cybernetics and the surveillance state and corporations and capitalism. With robots. And public transportation.
