Merzbow Pulse Demon silver double 12″ (1996, 2018)
Up until 1996, Masami Akita had more than established himself as the godfather of noise, Since 1979 he built his presence as being the most ubiquitous and ambitious of them all. Then arrived Pulse Demon. Nowadays it considered a centerpiece of noise. At 3,000 initial disc copies, it was one of the most plentiful noise albums issued. Its’ presentation: a prismatic shine parallel with swirly and disorienting Bridget Riley-type op-art described the classic to a sonic tee and even became an unofficial universal symbol of noise. The piercing washes of silver, salt-and-pepper, and rainbow distortion, squelches, snags, and deep bass pulls along with its quantity designated the album and Merzbow’s as the universally acclaimed go-to harsh-noise album.
The Bludhoney label had pushed its visibility even more with vinyl re-issues of the legendary landmark release and they’re not skimping on the color spectrum. To start, 250 copies on silver vinyl were pressed and housed with a prismatic jacket and obi-strip. At this minute, second-hand copies of this are currently selling for at least $250.00.
