Hey, Anne! This week's my birthday week, and I was wondering if we could have a mini celebration with you and my favorite mob boys: Grim and Smiley :)
Hey! I’m sorry I didn’t get to this sooner. Your birthday week is nearly over! Grim and Smiley have been...busy. Yeah, we’ll go with busy. (It’s not that I haven’t felt like writing all week. Noo....)
For your birthday, the boys invite you over for a little celebration. Grim takes you out for a delicious dinner and then brings you home so he and Smiley can give you some gifts.
Grim has several gifts for you: a beautiful silver pin shaped like a bird, a blank photo album, and a very nice camera. “I realized I did not have many pictures of you, my dear,” he says. “I thought perhaps we could find time to take some together.”
Smiley’s gift for you is a lovely cake. It’s pretty obvious he bought it, rather than making it, which is probably for the best. It’s your favorite flavor and decorated with your favorite colors. There is one candle on it. It’s shaped like a question mark.
“Figured it wasn’t nice to ask ya your age,” Smiley says with a smirk. “One candle still works for a wish, though, right?”
Grim glowers at his brother. “It had better,” he says. He turns to you and his expression turns soft. “Blow out the candle and make a wish, my dear, and may you have the very happiest of birthdays.” ” He lights the candle.
You blow out the candle and make your wish. “Thank you,” you say. You hug Smiley, who ruffles your hair a bit and hugs you back. Then he lets you go.
“I’ll give you love birds a little privacy,” he says with a wink. He vanishes.
Grim glares for a moment at the spot where his brother was, but then his face goes soft again. He wraps his arms around you in a tender embrace. “I love you very much, my dear,” he says. “I realize we don’t get much time together, but my affections for you have yet to fade. I hope that in this next year, we’ll be able to spend more time together. That’s my wish for your birthday, for what it’s worth.”
You think about telling him that wishes don’t come true if you tell them but decide against it. Instead, you stand on tiptoe and press your lips very gently against his teeth. He kisses you back.
“Happy birthday, my love,” he says.
“I love you,” you reply, and kiss him again. This has been your best birthday yet.
