Awh, thank you! Sounds really cool!
lol sorry about the long post, but it’s a good show and worth the watch if you’re into that stuff.
Okay, you always post "Carmilla" stuff and I have absolutely no idea what it is and have never seen it anywhere else but on your blog. Would you mind explaining it to me?
Oh child, sit right down and let me tell you a thing… (Or drop down to the tl;dr.)
Probably the best explanation I’ve seen for Carmilla is “Dracula, but before and lesbian.” Carmilla, the webseries I post about like an insane person, is inspired by the Sheridan le Fanu novella of the same name. (The novella came out a number of years before Dracula.) It focuses on a lesbian vampire, Carmilla, who dotes on/cons a fairly clueless human girl named Laura. It has some quite antiquated notions regarding ladyloving and general “female” behaviors that one would expect from a dude writing in the 1870s.
The Canadian webseries is a modern, vlog-format retelling of the novella that eschews those 18th century sensibilities regarding women to create a well-written supernatural drama/comedy featuring well-acted characters, overt feminism, and a decidedly welcome and unapologetic (canon yet mostly unstated) queerness. It’s produced by SmokeBomb and U by Kotex. If you’ve seen videos of attractive people throwing tampons around…that’s probably why unless you were watching that hilarious Robby Ayala vine. There’s a lot of transmedia as well. The main characters have tumblrs and twitter accounts. The twitter ones convey additional info/ happenings not seen in the show but also gives away spoilers so I haven’t linked them here.
TL;DR- It’s a hilarious and heartbreaking series with loads of cool, richly developed characters who have flaws, kick ass, and drink a lot of cocoa in the face of supernatural weirdness and lesbian drama. The series updates on Tuesdays/ Thursdays at 5:30 EST and each episode is 3-7 minutes long. Here is the link to the season 1 playlist if you want to give it a go as well as the current season 2 list. There’s a Christmas episode that bridges the two seasons.
*Also, if you’re still watching by ep 17 you are never leaving.

Assured I'd reach the shore in less than seven weeks.
