Ethubs fic in the works

Concept: Etho has a secret YouTube channel where he posts bushcrafting and other wilderness survival videos. A random message from a fan who painted one of his survival structures turns into a mutual respect for each other’s craft, then a friendship, then gets turned on its head after a realization that really should’ve been made sooner. Pining, self sabotage, nature, friendship, and feelings will commence.

i'm interested in what sort of direction you're going for in regards to describing Etho physically? like i've found there's quite a variation in how fics (especially the more rpf-y ones) describe Etho's looks, so i'm curious on what your take is! some fics completely omit any specific description, most keep it pretty vague but some even make him look like his minecraft character irl! How does your fic do Etho?

Ahh yes, so; in line with the rest of the fic, BMBE!Etho’s appearance will be somewhere in between rpf-and-character-inspired.

He’s tallish (6’3), white, shortish straight/wavy brown hair with some premature graying from a combo of stress and genetics (he’s only ~35ish yrs old) that’s most prominent around his temples (a slight salt and pepper look on the rest of it), glasses because I’m a sucker for giving characters vision impairment, mild musculature that’s rounded by some fat. If you’re going outside regularly in somewhere as cold as Canada you better:

1. Bulk up so you can de-ice your car, and ->

2. Have at least some fat so you don’t freeze to death.

BMBE!Etho is still a gamer at heart, so he’s no athlete, but he does enough survivalist building that he’s found a comfortable medium while trying to avoid being skin and bones. As for more blatant character inspo, BMBE!Etho does wear a mask part time, but it’s for a combination of anonymity on his secret survivalist channel and for subconscious-neurodivergent-comfort reasons in irl social situations.

I hope to draw him or get some refs to share at some point, but his appearance isn’t really going to be important to the story (in part because it matters very little to Bdubs), so readers can imagine him however and it should work just fine!

Ahhh yes always! <3 Made a lot of progress but chapter two is ending up a LOT longer than I expected. I’m a liiiittle worried about over-describing in this one, so when it finally gets posted I’d love any feedback, I don’t know how much description would bore folks
