I don't usually read foodie books. I read this one, mainly, because of the sapphic challenge and I like Kris' way of building different characters. This is mainly how confident or not the character is gonna be in chasing after she wants and loves. This usually intrigues me. ⁠ ⁠ 🌟 I enjoyed the connection between Ki and Taryn and her daughter was also cute. The scenes when they finally gave into their intense emotions was written interesting way because the Taryn had reservations. Understandable of course because both of them had enough to lose. ⁠ ⁠ 🌟 One thing though that didn't sit well with me was Ki choosing not to go after she won the scholarship. I am not trying to be in way for HEA but when I read that scene, to me, it just seemed so ridiculous. Like what was the meaning to the competition then. Because really, even I got a little stressed during that restaurant scene when that arrogant prick sabotaged Ki. All that stress for nothing. Other the side, we can't judge others of their choice, to each their own. The cafe ideas was brilliant though. God, who doesn't want to go ti Italy or what happened to, "If you love something, let it go. If it comes back to you, its yours forever. If it doesn't, then it was never meant to be." I will sacrifice my attitude and read "Wild For You" series next year, I am a wolf fun, so vampires do nothing for me. There is a spiritual bond that feels real when reading wolf-books than vampire-books. But in 2022, I am breaking all these attitudes, so I will read. ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 🌟 Captain Quincy was different and I liked that about her. She seemed a little like Queen Georgina but far more withdrawn. Holly Weaver was just larger than life. I loved the way she kept pushing Quincy's buttons, like yes, that's how it is done. Deep enough to bring out some reaction, but not too deep to traumatise. And those cute moments when they were painting soldiers, just adorable. I really think Holly was good for Quincy. It is just weird how one can actually see that.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ 🌟 Truth be told, I preferred Queen Georgina and the Queen Consort Beatrice Elliot's book. It was just crazy emotional and the drama was entertaining. Bitter people never get anywhere, that crazy woman almost cost Beatrice her life. The way Quincy swop in, I didn't even care about Holly in that moment, i just kept thinking, "Is Bea ok?" and that says a lot. No wasting time, no tripping, just saving. ⁠ ⁠ 🌟I don't know a lot about art and I can't claim that I have a huge love for art but I do appreciate art that looks intriguing. I can't understand abstract art without it being explained to me. So, I think I would have loved Hayden's art. ¤Paranormal Romance¤ Niki Kroff, Sylvan Mir & Lara. This one was definitely off the hinge. I killed off a few characters in my head. The lack of respect to Sylvan was fucking infuriating. Not Niki getting into Sylvan's fave about some lil bitch. Oh, I was angry. You are supposed to respect the Alpha. But that meant no shit in this book. It is like the other characters that made the first book more "wolf-pack" just disappeared. Pooof, like Thanos-voodoo. Drake's pregnancy, again, should have had more impact. The whole training a vampire to be a good pet could have been a novella. In times like this, I always prefer standalone books. ♤ MYSTERY/THRILLER♧ Elle Pharell and Cass Hunt. If this book was made into a movie... it would be so fucking good. Well, apart from the scenes when that bitch monster of woman molested Cass, now that was truly awful. The whole thing with memory whipping and then using her like that... even as a reader, I felt violated. 😭😭 Scenes like that are one of the reasons I skip sex scenes.. because I would definitely live without my brain being tainted like that. 👌Anyways... the action scenes and love between Elle and Cass, now that was beautiful. The fact that, that monster erased her brain over and over again but Cass still remembered Elle, now that transcendent. 👌 The writing was really good too, like the wording, the pace and development of the story, very good. I loved it. ☺ SWEET ROMANCE😚⁠ ⁠ Serena Evans and Gabrielle Barnes.⁠ ⁠ 🐶 This book was so sweet and loving and cute and.. argh.. just freaking adorable. I adored the life out of it. That slight angst was just what made it such a strike. ⁠ ⁠ 🐰 Serena, her upbringing was tough. So when she won the millions, I was really happy. And I loved how her first instinct was to trust Gabrielle. Of course, there were some slight "I am mad at you" moments but you could feel why that was necessary. Talk about character and chemistry development. ⁠ ⁠ 🐱 This is how I want my love story to be, simple and emotional and compassionate. The kind of understanding that Serena had for Gabrielle, just beautiful. And every time Serena held her hands without thinking... damn. I am still swooning.⁠ ⁠ 🐮 That little angst was so fucking perfect... my heart was in cloud 9. That wanting and longing but not giving in yet still struggling with sadness... 💋 Kris Bryant did a perefct touched on that. For example (Spoiler Alert); ⁠ ⁠ 1. That scene when Gabrielle came to her mom's house and she just burst into tears.. such vulnerability yet strength in it all. ⁠ ⁠ 2. Also when Gabrielle came with a puppy and reconciled with Serene.. A singer Sophie James and a manager Dana Landon. ⁠ ⁠ ♪ The plot was good: I usually find singer-plots interesting because in most cases there is always a song dedicated to the better half, which is so adorable. ⁠ ⁠ ♪ The pace was definitely character driven: Dana and Sophie seemed different, in a way I actually thought Sophie was going to have the most reservations and be more guarded, but that was not the case. How the characters' presence affected the other was really beautiful. One could see how Sophie felt in Dana's presence and it was beautiful. ⁠ ⁠ ♪ Characters: Yes, Dana and Sophie were fabulous but I was really intrigued by Lauren's character. Yes, she was the "bad lady" that left and broke the other's heart BUT WAS SHE REALLY THE BAD LADY? Because given her "excuses" one could see why she did what she did and Dana did slightly the same. Yes, Dana was hurt but I WEIRDLY believe so was Lauren. One choosing her career over love can seem cruel but I believe in different stages of life, everyone has different priorities. I really feel like there was more to Lauren than just her being the bad lady. Chemistry is not easy 😂😂⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ❤️‍🔥 Favorite moments; 1: After Sophie had performed and she came to Dana.. talk af in her heels but then she took them off and kissed her. It was cute. ⁠ 2: That first interview that Sophie did about her transition, in the leather outfit… YES QUEEN. ⁠ 3. Paige Burton and Mayson Montgomery. These two reminded me of Emery and Claire from Not Guilty by Brit Ryder. ⚡ The story was tight, I enjoyed it. The mystery, the "I know what's gonna happen but I need no spoilers". The feelings I got were really good. The build-up, the strings, the connections, the background, the past. present and future all could be seen and not defied because they so happened in a natural way. ⚡ Can we all appreciate the fact that Mayson saved Paige's notebook.. that stuff was soft as fuck. Vinden gudinna… I knew the word right away… But damn, when Paige connected the dots, I was already high on happiness. ⚡ Though one thing I didn't quite believe was how Paige couldn't realise that it was Mayson after they slept together as Mayson and Paige… I got this Supergirl/Lena/Kara Danvers deja-vu. There is no way you would be that intimate with me (like 5+ times) and I wouldn't recognise you. Like for example; the perfume, the hands, the aggression, the sounds, the movements, even the eyes… but I guess lust is blind.
