We had terrific support from the army, and the bomb disposal suit was still the heaviest costume I’ve ever worn- around 40kg. Wearing Mess Kit was the first of many times I’ve emulated my father, uncle and brother by playing a British Army Officer- for those unfamiliar with Mess Kit, it’s Evening Wear for officers and is a mixture between a dinner jacket, a bullfighter’s costume, a wetsuit and a bellboy’s outfit and you’ve never worn anything as cool in your whole life.
