As my time spent in Buenos Aires ended up being a lot shorter than I had planned, I wanted to see as much as the city as possible through a few different Buenos Aires city tour. So in three days, I ended up doing different Buenos Aires city tour each day.
The first and second city tours were free walking tour offered by Buenos Aires Free Walks. The first was an afternoon tour offered daily that explored the city center…
On my second day in Buenos Aires in the morning I went on the Recoleta Tour before my amazing evening at the Argentine Experience. The Recoleta explores the wealthiest area of Buenos Aires and some of the mansions (most now turned embassies) left over from the aristocracy.
The third Buenos Aires City tour I took was a full day biking tour with Biking Buenos Aires… my favorite part of this tour was the colorful La Boca neighborhood… however, we did also bike through the city center, San Telmo, the Recoleta where we visited the Recoleta cemetary and ate huge and delicious Bondiolas (Argentine pork sandwiches cooked with lime and topped with sandwiches on a soft French roll).
I learned a lot during my tours about the history of Buenos Aires, many things that I never knew… such as the fact that 30,000 Argentines who spoke against the government at the time were abducted in the 1970s/1980s and never seen again. Not only were they never seen but their birth records were erased and all signs that they ever existed were gone. To this day the family members are searching for them to find out their fates.

What compounded this more for me was that the CIA supported this behavior and the puppet government we had put in place and that support continued until the beginning of the Carter administration. At that point the CIA sent a letter to the Argentine dictatorship saying if they wanted to get rid of anyone, they should to it asap because our support of that behavior was now over.
Unfortunately, that was too late for the 30000 people and all the families that had already effected :(
