Bone reading

a variant of fortune telling that is a bit less common especially in these days. Bone telling is when one collects a bunch of bones, to read other individual fortune. There are a few different variants, one where you toss the bones into the fire so you can read the cracks that form which will tell you of a person’s fate. It is sometimes believed that the cracks follow the runes that fortell the fate of the world itself.

Another type involves identifying the future by tossing a bag of bones. What the bones mean depends on how the bones land. Sometimes runes will be carved onto the bones as well, to help with more specific fates.

There is als a third technique where you randomly select a bunch of bones from within a bag. You must grab the first bone your hand touches. Then arrange the bones. What the future says will be determined by the type and shape of bone that you have pulled out. You can get more specific by the placement of each of the bones as well as reading the damage. This style of reading is popular with those who follow the path of the dead.

There are still people who use bone reading, but it is becoming less common. Please do not hate this form of reading, because normally you use the bones of creatures who have died naturally. Not the bones of creatures that were killed just to be used for this purpose. But it is good to store the bones in a leather pouch, or animal hide pouch.
