Vegeta VS Zephyr
The Fury of the Morakian Unleashed!
So in this universe, Babidi forces Vegeta to face off against Zephyr instead of Goku when he disobeys as punishment.
Zephyr is uniquely suited to critique Vegeta's decision to submit to Babidi's control. They're both leaders with no people left to lead, both finding a home on earth. A purpose. Or, that's something that Zephyr thought they had in common.
Both of their people were used and eventually discarded by Frieza. The biggest difference is that the Morakians rebelled against Frieza and refused to kneel to him once they understood what they were doing and that they could not abide by it, which is more than the Saiyans could say. Vegeta found this fact somewhat infuriating.
Before the Buu saga they find themselves making a smarmy sort of friendship, but both begrudgingly respect the other. Vegeta for Zephyr's tenacity and power, Zephyr for Vegeta never forgetting his people and building a family. The two understand each other better than they'd admit, but are not at all on the same page.
It's this betrayal against what Zephyr considers their new people and home that truly enrages Zephyr upon his betrayal. And the fact that Vegeta willingly enslaved himself again. They only call him Prince Vegeta during this fight and only condescendingly.
Here's some quotes from their fight:
V: “What do you think you can do, mutt? Stop me? I will get my fight with Kakarot and I will kill you to get it."
Z: “I won't make it easy on you."
V: “HAHA! Do you really think you can even slow me down?"
Z: “Since Bulma’s husband and Trunk’s father is nowhere to be seen, I guess I’ll just have to step up."
V: “Do you think those names mean anything to me?”
Z: “It’s a shame they don’t."
V: “YOU FUCKING MUTT!”
Z: “I might be a mutt, but at least I have dignity!”
V: “Dignity?!”
Z: “More dignity than you! You, the great Saiyan Prince, willingly enslaved yourself for a rush of flimsy power!”
V: “Shut up! You know nothing!”
Z: “You broke free of Frieza’s chains only to dance yourself back onto another’s strings! The proud Prince Vegeta! What a pity, a disgrace!”
V: “FOUL MONGREL!”
Z: “FILTHY TRAITOR!”
V: “But that’s impossible! Frieza created your people to erase any chance of a Super Saiyan!”
Z: “Frieza miscalculated.”
V: “Super Morakian or not, you’re no match for me!”
Z: “Maybe so, but there’s something you need to know, Prince Vegeta.”
V: “And whats that?”
Z: “You’re a threat to my new home and my new family. I will protect them until there’s no life left in this body!”
V: “Just like you did with your old one, huh? And how did that go?”
Z: “Speak of that again and I’ll consider you my substitute for Raditz!”
V: “Oh, I’m so scared!”
Z: “YOU’RE A SHAME! A SHAM! A FRAUD! A PRINCE OF NO PEOPLE BUT WITH EVERYTHING TO LOSE! YOU THREW IT ALL AWAY, AND FOR WHAT?! HOW DARE YOU!!”
V: “YOU’VE ALWAYS THOUGHT I WAS WEAK!”
Z: “No, Prince Vegeta! I considered you a friend! I admired you!”
V: “A-Admired? You’re lying!”
Z: “A proud prince, the last of his kind, living out his life while never once forgetting his people! Creating a family, protecting his new home, while passing on the ways of the Saiyans to his son! That was admirable!”
V: “THAT WAS NOTHING!”
Z: “IT WAS EVERYTHING! And now I know you were never the man I believed you were!”
V: “That’s right! This is who I’ve always been!”
Z: “And that is the greatest disappointment of all!”
