Properly announcing my next book, The Poisoning of Aurora Finch, a gothic horror romance that is also a loose retelling of du Maurier's Rebecca that turns Mrs Danvers into a MILF love interest! Coming early December 2026!👀
Currently in the hands of alpha readers before I edit again for betas, contacted a cover artist, and I'm feeling so stoked about this book!! It's so much darker and bloodier and spookier and sexier than The Bones We Haunt, my debut novel, and I am excited for y'all to read it.🥹🫶🕸🕷
You can keep your eyes on this space or my Instagram @/jo.taylor.books for updates and upcoming preorder info!
This is a book series I will be releasing on Wattpad. A few chapters of the first book were previously released there under the name of Coaster Dragons, but those were dark times... This new version is different :)
Starholders is currently planned to have 7 books and maybe a spinoff series. You don't have to be knowledgeable of theme parks or rollercoasters to understand the series, everything will be explained.
I struggle with writers block a LOT and any sort of positive interaction with this blog will help motivate me to work on this! If you choose to follow along with development, thank you so much!!
This blog is going to be for updates, concept art, asks, and everything else to do with The Starholders series.
Now let's move on to the fun stuff!
Under the surface of every amusement park, there is a world full of dragons representing each attraction. They live in a duplicate version of their park where humans can't be seen. This place, called Paraverse by its residents, has been ruled by gods called the Founders. Well, until now.
Mysteriously, the Founders are dying off without warning. With each one lost, Paraverse descends deeper into chaos. Reality is coming apart, and the lives of every dragon will soon be in danger.
The Founders had one last hope that they put the rest of their power into: a group of Tracktails (rollercoaster dragons) with godlike powers that will grow into the next ruling deities. The next Starholders.
This series follows the young Starholders as they discover their destiny and try to save their dying world before the damage is irreversible. There are shadow demons, a species of deadly robots, and plenty of worldbuilding elements inspired by the theme park industry.
Blog-wise, big shout-out to @sunrisinguniverse and @of-potions-and-blades-official, other original book blogs found on Tumblr. Their ideas are super cool and a huge motivator for starting my own blog. Check them out too!!
Book wise:
Wings of Fire - Many of the character dynamics and species traits.
Warriors - Religious system and social hierarchy.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Use of superpowers in society, redemption villains, the Chosen One trope done right.
Shadow and Bone - Different superpower categories and fantasy stuff.
Raya and the Last Dragon - Inspiration for the Founders, Starholders, and the-world-is-ending-and-the-sky-is-falling vibes

Meet the Author(s)
Hello! I'm Quather (@quathxr). I use he/him pronouns, and I love everything creative. Ceramics, drawing, writing, you name it. It's my passion. I own three birds and play volleyball. If you wanna know more about me, or just chat, feel free to stop by my main blog!
Hey! Splash here (@splashheart8)! She/her pronouns are my niche, but let's be honest, I'm just a genderless blob who looks like a woman. I'm not as active as Quick on my main blog, but if you want more of my art and some random reblogged things, head over there. Also, I lost the game. I apologize. It popped into my head while I was writing this, and I am morally obligated to put it here. Congratulations.

Wait What?
I would call this section FAQ's, but... this blog is brand new. There are no frequently asked questions. sO. This section is whatever I deem you all worthy of knowing.
Avatars: Avatars are the deities' vessels. They were created for the sole purpose of carrying out the god's wishes after it was deemed too dangerous for the gods to do so themselves.
Deities: The gods of Alwynsha, each assigned a different domain to oversee. The people used to devote their lives to the deities, praying for guidance and help, but with war comes change.
Guardians: Guardians are the descendants of the Avatars, gods walking on the earth. They tower over normal animals, all standing roughly double or triple the normal animals' height, varying from different species of Guardians. They do not have any sort of magic, although a select few are known to have gifts given by the gods themselves.
Ka: Ka is the life force of all living things in the world. Those few chosen by the gods are able to bend their own Ka to their will. Most use this to heal others, but every god's gift is different...

Asks
You are welcome to send in any questions you may have! No promises we'll answer if it's spoilers, but someone deserves to know about all our hard work worldbuilding-
Hi everyone! Since I'm coming close to the end of my first round of revisions for my novel, I figured I'd officially share on here what it's all about!
Wilhelmina Abrams has spent her whole life believing in magic, fairy tales, and myths. So, when her father dies unexpectedly, it is only natural that her first course of action is to make a wish. The most desperate wish she has ever made in her life.
To her dismay, the answer comes not in a wish granted, but in an invitation to a mysterious manor and a game to be played within. There, she finds four other competitors who have also made desperate wishes. And only one of them will be granted.
The manor, stuffed full of references to fairy tales, myths, and legends, soon becomes the game board on which they are meant to play. Wilha has to solve riddles, break curses, and fight monsters to get back the one thing she wants in the world: her father.
Hopefully, no other competitors will get in her way.
I'm so excited to start introducing these characters and this world I've been creating! If you are interested in being a beta reader once the story is finished, feel free to reach out!

Plot and Sypnosis
The Princess Tournament for Prince Kaye’s hand in marriage is underway, and all the girls in the Kingdom are preparing to win or to die in the arena.
Tris Lakewater is preparing to use the tournament as a way to finally escape her stepfamily. She doesn’t care about marrying the Prince, because if she doesn’t win but survives the arena it will guarantee her a spot in Dinvirty’s great army. She’s excited for the chance at glory, she's been sneaking out into the woods behind her house and training herself for this.
What she doesn’t know is that the whole thing isn’t as great as it’s made out to be.
That the whole kingdom, the whole militia system, the Princess Tournament- isn't as great as it's made out to be.
~~~
Unlike his parents, Kaye is not looking forward to the Princess Tournament. It's no doubt going to be extremely violent- pretty much everything in the kingdom of Dinvirty is- and a lot of girls are going to be slaughtered in the arena for the fun of it.
And it seems as if Kaye is the only one who thinks that there is something twisted and horribly wrong with the whole thing. It certainly doesn't help that he's had horrible intruding thoughts of violent and disturbing things happening to him and people he knows ever since he could remember.
On top of that, his parents expect him to be a bloodthristy madman like them, craving the blood and death to come. They're hoping the winner of the Princess Tournament will fix him.
He's starting to think they're the ones that need fixing.
Extra Stuff
Writing this book in my WIP has been really hard. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to write Tris and Kaye and make their voices sound unique, but I'm working on it.
Inspirations for this book include: Cinderella (Mostly the 2015 film, but also the different version of the fairytale from around the world), Gladiator (2000), The Hunger Games book series, The Roman Empire, the Viking Age
Generations after The End, there are two ways of living — Gangs of scavengers roam the Wilds and hunt for relics of lost times, while the re-settlers spend their lives building a new civilization on the ruins of the old. Jan Xiaoli is the leader of Ryningare City — one of the largest and most prosperous settlements this side of the Rift. With the purist movement growing stronger, the scavengers getting more hostile, and the incurable disease spreading, ruling the city feels like sitting on a ticking time bomb.
When he meets Shi Saxe, the infamous Vulture, who lives alone in the Wilds, Jan Xiaoli feels as though the storm raging around him is sneaking its way into his heart as well.
