The Apple Watch Heart Rate Feature You Probably Didn't Realize Existed
And then it finally came out of your own mouth.
It was never your fault.
People were telling me. You were also saying something in your own way but I just refused to listen. I refused to see what was already right in front of me. It turns out I was holding on to something I shouldn't have been holding on to in the first place.
However, no.
No, I don't think you're entirely blameless either.
You knew what you were doing. You were aware of the situation while I was the only one left questioning what was happening. You knew where you stood while I was left trying to make sense of every little thing, wondering if I was imagining something that wasn't there.
Maybe it was my fault for holding on.
Maybe it was my fault for choosing to believe in something when the signs were already telling me otherwise.
And I accept that. I am responsible for holding on to something I shouldn't have. I am responsible for the hope I allowed myself to have even when there were already things telling me to let go.
But don't pretend you had no part in creating the confusion.
You weren't aware of my feelings. I know that. I never told you and you never asked. So I cannot blame you for something you never knew.
But you were aware of your actions. At the very least, you knew they could be interpreted a certain way. You knew that the things you said, the things you did, and the way you continued to show up could mean something to someone even if you never intended for them to mean anything.
Maybe you never meant to give me hope.
Maybe you never meant to make me think there was something more.
But the truth is, you knew where you stood, and I didn't.
And I was the one left confused.
So yes, I take responsibility for holding on.
But I won't take responsibility for all of the confusion.
Because you are old enough to know.
And I was the one left trying to understand what any of it meant.
