Books this week of March 2020 #Book #Reading #BooksOfTheWeek https://www.instagram.com/p/B-Eh3xAJmUb/?igshid=9o25hbf6ybp0
#booklover #books #classicbooks #gabrielgarcíamárquez #migueldecervantes #booksoftheweek #instabooks
Book of the Week - 16/10/16 The Clone Conspiracy #1 - I think we all knew this was going to be my pick of the week the day it was announced, tbh. Dan Slott's Spider-Events are always awesome, and I love anything related to the Clone Saga, but this issue didn't disappoint. Plus when was the last time Jim Cheung did interiors? Gorgeous. #booksoftheweek #comics #marvel #spiderman #deadnomore #cloneconspiracy
Books Of The Week Part One - 01/10/16 Blue Beetle #1 - I saw at least 3 different websites this week saying that this issue was poorly constructed, and I couldn't disagree more. The banter is fun (if a little OTT, but it's a Keith Giffen book so you're always going to get tonnes of words), the action is well choreographed by Scott Kolins, and whilst the Doctor Fate/magic aspect seems to be on the back burner, I'm intrigued enough to let it slide for now until it becomes more prominent. DC doesn't have very many teen heroes that aren't Titans, and even fewer POC heroes, so Jaime is well worth your time. Wonder Woman #7 - It's been said many times, but Greg Rucka gets Wonder Woman more than any other writer, and this issue shows him as the quintessential Cheetah writer too. Liam Sharp proves himself a worthy partner once again, and I really want to see his Swamp Thing after this issue too. I can't decide if I like The Lies or Year One better out of the two stories this title is telling, because they're both so great. #booksoftheweek #comics #dc #bluebeetle #jaimereyes #tedkord #wonderwoman
Books of the Week - 24/09/16 - Part 1 Aquaman #7 - Things have gotten a little hectic around Atlantis, what with impending war and international incidents, but this issue reminds us why Arthur is the king Atlantis needs, and that Mera is wonderful. Great political drama, if a tad light on superhero action this week. Green Lanterns #7 - I can't get over how real Sam Humphries makes these two characters. Their dialogue is so realistic, and the problems they face in this issue are so genuine; it just brings a smile to my face. Trinity #1 - As predicted, this is a beautiful book thanks to Francis Manapul's artwork, but the story hits home too with good use of continuity and great narration from Lois Lane. This book is in good hands. Lucifer #10 - Sometimes I forget this book follows on from the Carey/Gross series, but certainly not this month. Plots and characters from all over converge as a dark reflection of the Presence returns, with a cliffhanger ending that is certain to make fans of the previous series grin. #comics #booksoftheweek #aquaman #greenlanterns #trinity #lucifer #vertigo
Books of the Week - 10/09/16 Batman #6 - I Am Gotham concludes with this emotional gut-punch of an issue that does more for Gotham Girl in one issue than the past five, and shows us a side of Batman that we only rarely see. Add in a single page of Alfred that speaks volumes and Ivan Reis' gorgeous artwork, plus that evil cliffhanger, and we have a winner. All-New All-Different Avengers #14 - For a character who's been in less than 10 comics, I already like the new Wasp a lot, thanks to this issue. Great artwork from Adam Kubert after some of his less-than-stellar issues recently, and a heartbreaking final act make this if not a quintessential Civil War II tie-in, then a must-read issue on how to do legacy heroes right. #booksoftheweek #civilwarii #batman #allnewalldifferentavengers
Books of the Week - 04/09/16 Gotham Academy Annual#1 - Amidst all the Rebirth shenanigans, it's easy to forget certain series that haven't reappeared yet. Gotham Academy reminds everyone how bloody wonderful it is in this super-sized supernatural story that ties into Batman Beyond as well as the first ever issue of the series with a cavalcade of lovely artwork to boot. Ms. Marvel #10 - Civil War II's tie-ins are much better than the event itself at this point, and Ms. Marvel is leading the pack. As Kamala realises that predictive justice isn't quite as good as she'd hoped, Bruno fights for his life and flashbacks reveal their adorable first meeting. Nothing like a comic book that makes you think. Silver Surfer #200 - Celebrate in style with the Surfer and Dawn Greenwood as they team up with guest star Spider-Man to fight shapeshifting fear monsters, and then get kicked in the feels too as Dawn deals with her abandonment issues whilst coming face to face with her estranged mother, all lovingly drawn by the Allred team. #booksoftheweek #dc #marvel #gothamacademy #msmarvel #civilwarII #silversurfer
