Two books that I have read and LOVED this last year—The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon, and The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. For The Priory of the Orange Tree: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It certainly lived up to its reputation as a LONG book. The build is slow, mounting, and a bit difficult to wrap your head around at first (as is the case with any epic fantasy). But it truly paid off. Gorgeous character development, compelling story, and a tender resolution. There are ample examples of strong, lovingly crafted female characters and a delightful LGBTQ flourish. I devoured her novel in under a week and immediately googled, “Novels like the Priory of the Orange Tree.” For The Poppy War: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I went wild for the female empowerment present in the first installment of this fantasy trilogy. I was caught off guard and simultaneously enraptured by the first sentence. Side note: thank you for reminding fantasy readers that women still get their periods, regardless of the setting!! I loved her time at the academy, and could sense the budding threat of war in a way that felt more true to what the word actually means than what circumstances I normally find it thrown around in regarding these fantasy novels. There were some parts that lost me once the book took a turn away from everything that initially sucked me in (hence the four) and I SERIOUSLY advise looking up the TW/CW for this series before you start. It. Gets. Dark. But I simply cannot stand to leave a started series unfinished, so I’m on the hunt for the next book. I would love to start posting what I’ve been reading lately as I burn through my TBR, so stay tuned for some more posts like this one!! #book #books #booklover #bookworm #bookish #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookreviews #bookreviewer #bookstoread #booktography #booksarelife #booktoday #bookishlife #bookhoarder #booksofinsta #bookishphoto #prioryoftheorangetree #samanthashannon #poppywar #rfkuang (at Bozeman, Montana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgCebq1rBgP/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
For you a thousand times over...
The Kite Runner By Khaled Hosseini
Rate: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 stars
The Kite Runner, written by Khaled Hosseini, tells the extraordinary story of an unlikely friendship between a wealthy Afghan boy, named Amir, and Hassan, the son of his father's servant — who he later finds out, after Hassan's death, has always been his half-brother.

.
.
What I enjoyed:
- Hassan's Allegiance
- Cute moments they had
- I'm pleased by Hassan's first word.
- Twelve years of friendship
- Rahim's ability to treat Amir like a son.
- "For you a thousand times over."
.
.
.
.
.
Things I abhor:
- Amir acting rudely
- The way Amir is treating Hassan makes my blood boil.
- Amir and Hassan were deceived by Amir's father
- Amir leaving Hassan even though he knew about it
- Assef is a complete asshole.

.
.
My favorite scene is when Hassan and Amir are reading a book together in the shade of a pomegranate tree. And although Hassan's letter to Amir is my favorite portion of the narrative, it makes me sad.

Would I suggest it? While technically true, be aware of potential trigger warnings and make sure to have plenty of tissues ready. Because some of the content in this book can be concerning for young readers, it is not recommended that anyone under the age of 17 reads it.
While essentially a grief narrative, the story shows how the characters' friendships develop and the value of loyalty. Before reading this, I advise you to make sure your mental health is in good condition because some themes in this article may make you feel anxious or depressed.
The Kite Runner is a reminder that decency is always possible, no matter how hard life may seem. Everyone makes mistakes. There is a way to make up for our wrongs. A new day is dawning today, and with it comes an opportunity.Be sure to take advantage of it!

The best thing about being an obsessed romance books reader is.. Your standards only get higher. I mean ......i got gazillion fictional boyfriends to choose from. If you want tall, brooding, toxic? You got him!!. You want cute fluffy and shy? You got him!!
If you want both.. Baby you have got him right there with you!!!
....oh to be blessed like that.

I’ve always been chasing the feeling of swimming in the rain. The feeling of rain washing over my head, adding to the endless pool of chlorine filled water, raindrops that taste dry, tears that add salt to the mix, and whatever else falls from the sky; all surrounding me. I’m in the middle of it, because I belong there. I did fall from the sky, after all.

Favorite line = "I don’t need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better.” ___________________ Preview 👇 This book includes many stories of friends and how to make a good one. The author was an FBI agent and he tells his story of how he created a great friendship with a foreign spy who wasn't ready to speak a word also in the beginning. ___________________ Main part👇 So here goes the story as the spy was caught and jailed the author first used to visit him every day but he spoke nothing and just read his newspaper in front of him. This created a curiosity in the spy's mind. When questioned by the spy regarding his daily visit, the author doesn't reply increasing the curiosity of the spy. Now the author uses these two psychological principals ie: 1) The principle of scarcity. 2) Principle of increased restraint. To make friendship with him which are explained in detail in the book. So, according to the author, there are five stages of friendship 👭 1)Stranger (never talked) 2) Acquaintance (few talks) 3)Friends (many talks) 4) Close friends( sharing everything), 5) Significant other ( life partner type). So if you want to make friendship at any one stage it will depend not on your looks or money, but on increasing. 👬 Proximity ( how comfortable you feel ) 👬Frequency( Number of times you talk in a day) 👬Duration( for how much time you talked) 👬Impact ( How strongly you can satisfy his/her emotional need). This will decide how close your friendship 👭 is. ___________________ Recommendation👇 I would recommend this book to someone who is having a hard time building friendship and the one who is lonely. Building a friendship is about marketing yourself, the better you do, the better your friendship sells. ___________________ Qotd = One reason why books are our best friends? #friendshipbook #fridayreads #bookshelfie #booktoday #bookcover #bookphotograph #bookbloggerspost #bookjoy #bookloversofinstagram #bookaesthetic (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CF1-s30gfO0/?igshid=psy0r2p9bzxd
#oldbooks #booklifeisagoodlife #booktoday #bookfriendsclub #bookloop #bookfollowclub #consigliletterari #chiacchierodilibri #amicilettori #agostoinpillole #antrodilibri #augustfullofbooks #libriamoci1 #lacasadicarl #trovandopillolelibrose #amicandito #lettureimbranate #libriacolazione https://www.instagram.com/p/CEJLbLwHhnl/?igshid=194jx1c8tcm25
