Indiana Rose, the firstborn and eldest of three children to John and Adeline Harper, was an independent fighter from the very beginning. Growing up on a farm in a small town, about two hour’s drive from the heart of New Orleans, Indi didn’t have much choice but to find herself maturing a little earlier than most. With the endless amount of duties she undertook from a very young age, Indi felt the notion of responsibility ever since she could remember. In fact, she just believed it was a part of who she was — milking cows, cutting the grass, planting crops.. it was simply a way of life for the young brunette. Age wasn’t a factor in her mature take on day to day life, experience was. Her younger sister Sage was, well.. what one might call a damsel in distress. If things faltered to go her way, a breakdown would surely ensue. The contrasting personalities of the two daughters never quite allowed them to be too close, which was unfortunate for two parents who only ever strived for a close family. The sole person who tied it all together was their younger brother Lucas, as kind and as caring as they come.

From a very young age, Indi was curious about the world around her, never afraid to venture out and discover things for herself. She was highly in tune with nature and spent most of her time outdoors feeding that very curiosity. Academics was certainly her strong point, favouring her vast collection of books over television or magazines — things Sage was interested in. Her love for educating herself and learning led to being one of the top of her class, and continued through to her adolescent years. Indiana was the type of person who was great at a lot of things, including sports, but academics was her strongpoint. Graduating the top of her class in senior year, Indiana was destined for something morethan her town had to offer — and her father knew it. He encouraged her move to Boston to study a Science degree at Harvard University, always having believed his daughter could do anything and everything she wanted. And Indi? Well, she wanted to save lives.

The one thing that caused her to hesitate about her future, was love. A relationship sparked in senior year, one that took her entire world and everything she ever knew by storm.  The boy quickly became her everything, as the two embarked on a whirlwind romance that could only be described as unstoppable — until it wasn’t anymore. She was so in love with him she simply couldn’t see straight. The two almost decided to marry on a whim, until her father stopped them. He reminded his daughter of everything she had ever worked for, of the future career she so desired. The conflict of interest in regards to their future caused a rift between the two lovers, as they decided to undertake two very different paths in life. Harvard University came just in time post break up, sparking a whole new adventure for the young teen, being a completely different environment from anything she was accustomed to. That didn’t stop the girl from thriving academically with a career as a surgeon in her sights. Four years ago, Indi wound up studying a postgraduate degree in Medical Science. In her fourth year, she was flourishing as one of the local hospital’s medical interns. A tragic event struck earlier in 2016, however, that changed the course of Indiana’s life forever.

   — She had picked up the phone just like any other, excitement bubbling within once she noticed that the caller ID was one from back home. At this point in her life, her job had taken over and she barely had any time for friends in Boston, let alone family back home. Hearing the voices of loved ones was always something to look forward to for the hardworking brunette. The voice on the other end, however, faltered to match her upbeat emotions. In fact, it was one that left her holding her breath as she awaited what she guessed was bad news. — That was the day Indiana was informed about the tragic loss of her father and younger brother to a car accident outside New Orleans. Everything in her world stopped; her love for work, her desire to continue her career, the constant smile planted upon the usually happy girl’s features. Everything stopped, and she struggled to breathe. Staying in Boston was no longer an option, dropping her fourth year of medical school to move back home with her mother and sister soon after. Everything about her life felt grim and empty with the aching void in her chest now ever present. The first few months were the hardest, but eventually the three women learned to breathe again despite the inevitable pain within.

Six months after the incident, Adeline pushed for Indi to finish off her final year of medical school. Indi missed medicine that was for sure, but was afraid to pursue anything as she found herself taking care of the farm. She also knew Sage wasn’t one to undertake the responsibility. Her mother, however, believed she was destined for something greater than the farm — her father had always thought so. And finally, Indiana was back in school. Only this time, she was undertaking her practical experience closer to home, citing special circumstances. It’s been several months since working at Nola Medical, and Indi remains in a state of learning to breathe and smile again. She throws herself into work at the hospital, working at Bourbon Heat for a little extra cash, and taking care of managing the farm as much as possible. The girl is constantly busy, with little time for socialising and having more of a personal life — all of which worries her mother. Working allows for a sense of escape of having to deal with the painful memories and the notion that she will never be able to see or speak to her father or brother again. All Indi feels she can do, is take it one step at a time.

Indiana can be described as a down to earth, compassionate country ‘gal with a compulsive need to help others. She is, above all, selfless and accepting of others. Indi is extremely family oriented, which only makes dealing with her loss incredibly difficult. Despite her seemingly quiet nature, Indi has a passionate soul, one that ignites determination rarely seen in most people. She is highly intelligent — puts it to use in her career choice as a future surgeon, and would much rather read a book than do most things. That being said, it doesn’t mean Indi isn’t a fan of socialising and heading out for a good time. Typically, the girl is confident in herself and her abilities, and it shows in her brave, cool, calm and collected demeanour when dealing with high pressure situations. But there are flaws, too, such as her sarcastic comments, her stubborn nature that ignites a fiery temper, and her selfishness when she wishes to do what she wants to do — not what other people tell her to do. At times, she can be indecisive, but she’s slowly learning to make decisions without hesitation. Indi can be deemed as a pretender, or faker of feelings as she tries to cover up the pain inside. She is, at present, suffering a great loss in her life, which causes her to be a little more bitter and heartbroken than usual. All in all, Indi is incredibly loyal and kind, and is simply trying to find her way.
