Undisclosed Truths
Angela was finally ready. It had taken her more than an hour to freshen up and jump into her new clothes. But it was quite worth it: she looked good. She had to head out the Coven today to shop for school furniture with summer now reaching its end.
The tall brunette grabbed her beige bag that had been lying on the chair next to her and walked out of her room. She past a few faerie children joking around and smiled at them (how she loved her family!), then headed straight for the double doors. She had already warned the head of the Coven of her going out today.
Feeling proud of herself, Angela opened the door and stepped out of the ancient building. She climbed down the stairs while staring at the ground, readjusting the strap of her bag onto her shoulder. As she did so, she noticed feet just next to hers. Wait, what? Feet? Someone else’s feet?
Angela froze and spun on her heel, a frown clearly visible on her face. Who was that man and why was he walking straight toward her home? No, no, no, there had to be some mistake! Besides some routine social worker who came to make sure she was okay on her ‘’own’’, there was never anyone else than her approaching that building. And as far as she knew (and she knew a lot for 17 years old), that man didn’t work for the Italian public service. He struck her as strange right away, but mostly as a threat.
‘’Erm, excuse me. Where are you headed?’’ she asked with all the politeness she could muster through clenched teeth.
At least her looks were up-a-notch today, so she wouldn’t seem so weird to him at first.
