2017 Semper Fi Fund Boston Marathon Team
Did you know that after the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, injured service members of the Semper Fi Fund felt compelled to be at the bedside of the survivors to provide mentorship and let them know that there is life beyond their injuries? Since then, the Semper Fi Fund has worked closely with these survivors in providing service dogs, adaptive equipment, and other support as needed. The survivors of the bombing have been given bibs by the Boston Athletic Association for running the marathon each year after the bombing. In turn, some survivors take those bibs and donate them back to charities like the Semper Fi Fund for help in raising money towards assisting injured service members and Boston bombing survivors. Today’s post is to let you know that you can help me make a difference in supporting the Semper Fi/America’s Fund: https://runsignup.com/russellparker
This year, I have been given the opportunity to run for one of those survivors in the 2017 Boston Marathon as part of the Semper Fi/America’s Fund fundraising team. Each member of the team has been given a bib to run in this prestigious race by making a $5000 fundraising goal. This is a daunting task, but worth the effort in supporting such great programs.
I ask you to help me support those who have sacrificed by making a donation (https://runsignup.com/russellparker). The process is fast, easy, and secure. The Semper Fi Fund has been awarded the highest ratings from watchdog groups: A+ Top Rated Charity from CharityWatch, one of only three veteran nonprofits to receive this rating in recent years; and 4 Stars from Charity Navigator a rating only given to 4% of all charities. The Semper Fi Fund maintains an extremely low overhead of just 6%, and they provide rapid assistance with no red tape.
I truly appreciate any contributions you can provide. If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing my page on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and/or Twitter! Even better, send an email to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page: https://runsignup.com/russellparker
