“when ferrari were evil but not like EVIL” I want some of whatever you’re on to think they’ve evolved instead of just being… That
I mean they were definitely evil but there’s evil and then there’s whatever they’ve become.
It used to at least be fun to beat them and their extra money and their veto while they bitched about Red Bull being a fizzy drink peasant team. The good old fashioned Ferrari type of evil, the villain in Ford v Ferrari type. And you need a good rival to loathe and annoy you so you push yourself even more to beat them.
But now after the cheating was exposed... there’s no fun in it anymore, it’s just gross tbh. It’s as bad as what the Astros did and at least the Astros managed to steal the title. I honestly don’t know how anyone in Maranello sleeps at night except the whistleblower.
It’s true that I can’t say whether Stefano would have signed off on the engine cheating if he was around at the time, but between 2008-2014 he was team principal and for six of those years Ferrari didn’t win the title and yet they never crossed the line like this. I could be misremembering but other than the ‘Fernando is faster than you’ business nothing else stands out, certainly nothing that even comes close.
At the very least I can’t see Stefano ever threatening Max the way Binotto did for saying something that was perfectly true.
