Bourbon Sipper
The Steve & the Bourbon Sipper Connection - Instagram buddies
Steve’s Notes - One of the coolest things about Instagram is that if you find the right group of friends on the site, it’s an awesome experience. You get the chance to share experiences and interact with people who have the same interests as you. It keeps getting better as new people come into the mix.
One of the cool people I’ve met recently is the Bourbon Sipper. She’s equally funny as she is cool. We’ve talked a bit via email/DM in preparation for this interview and she’s been a big fan of the fun the bourbon crew on Instagram has.
Even though we are new buddies, she’s jumping right in and will have an article in the next issue of Bourbon Zeppelin. Someone who likes to write, is a bourbon drinker that loves simply talking about bourbon and enjoys humor?
Yeah, that sounds like my kind of person. I’m please to introduce you to my newest bourbon buddy...the Bourbon Sipper!
Interview with Bourbon Sipper
Where do you live - I live in Louisville, Kentucky, in the heart of bourbon country.
What do you do for a living? - I’m a mistress of all trades, but more specifically deal in creative arts and sales.
What's something interesting about you that you would like to share with OPUS readers? - In addition to being an amazing bourbon ball maker and bourbon enthusiast. I love to be outdoors and can bunny hop a mountain bike with the best of them. I also fish, kayak, and have even been known to dabble in juggling. (Usually, it works better when I’ve gotten a glass or two of bourbon under my belt.)
Who is the most famous person you have ever met? - I ran info Weird Al Yankovic in Washington D.C. several years ago. He was with his family and I was a thirteen-year old star-struck super fan who he was nice enough to stop and take pictures with. Right in front of the Constitution, no less! Best celebrity encounter by far.
If there was a movie about your life, what actress would play you? - Laura Prepon circa Orange is the New Black. She’s got the sass and the humor that it would take to play me on the big screen.
Tell us about this pig you own. - Murry is quite the over-achiever. He was meant to be a micro mini teacup pig, but ‘mini’ is not a word you could ever use to describe him now. He’s over 170 lbs and he’s got a big personality to match, he is also a bourbon lover. He gets a pour every so often to get him loosened up for a hoof trim😊
See if you can answer what the name of this song is: doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo---doo--doo--doo---doo--doo--doo - I’m not wholly convinced that someone was entirely sober when making up these questions, but the first song that came to mind is Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed.
Do you think if you played some sort of iconic role on TV in your late 20's - early 30's...by the time you were say 55, do you think you would be the type to embrace people's love for that character or would you just be pissed off and resentful all the time by the fact people only cared about your role Josie von Gams (that's the name of this fake TV character I've just bestowed upon you)? - Absolutely embrace that fame. I’d be the type of woman who would be in my 70’s doing comic conventions and trade shows and loving every second of being remembered for an iconic character that I brought to life. I mean, look at someone like Mark Hamill. Will he ever be remembered for playing anyone other than Luke Skywalker? No. But is he living the dream? Absolutely.
If you were messing around in your garage and and you came up with some chemical that was able to wipe out mosquitoes all together would you be like, "Oh, good I'm gonna really cash in on this," or would you be like, "Hmmm, what will the leopard-nosed bat eat if we remove all of the mosquitoes?" - That’s easy. I love money and hate mosquitoes. I wouldn’t even hesitate to make bank on the demise of those blood-sucking thieves.
What's your stance on fringe? I mean I personally think it looks ridiculous on a coat, but I'm not you. Please weigh in on this important topic. - Less is always more, that is unless you’re talking about fringe benefits.
Design the ultimate slice of toast. - Does thin crust pizza count?
If you could ask Kate Upton for one piece of advice, what would it be? - I would ask her to teach me her ways when it comes to the art of hula-hooping. I hear the girl is a champ, and who wouldn't want to watch her hula-hoop.
Is it more fun going to a formal dinner...I'm talking really good food and enjoying some cocktails...OR...sitting around in your underwear eating pizza from a box washing it down with bourbon? - Is this question for real? Who WOULDN’T want to sit around and eat pizza in their underwear with a bourbon on the side?
What person would you just be in awe to meet? Let's keep it to some sort of celebrity and keep with the living only. - I’m torn between two. Brock O’Hurn, so he can give me advice on how to make my hair look as glorious as his mane, and Ryan Reynolds, simply because he brought one of my favorite superheroes to life perfectly in Deadpool.
It's vacation choosing time! (I need a theme song for this question). You get to go to...Hawaii...California...or New York...where are you going (and why...the why is added because one word answers suck in an interview)? - I've always wanted to hear 'come on down and be the next contestant on the Price is Right!' I would pick California so I can make that dream a reality. I might be an expert at picking a good bourbon, but I'm pretty skilled with guessing the price of toothpaste as well. Bring on California with Plinko, the yodeling game, and the prospect of a new car and I'm sold! I wish Bob Barker was still the host though...
If you had a friend...slightly overweight...had been eating some bratwurst with sauerkraut while drinking Schlitz...and apparently he jammed his finger...if he asked you to pull his finger, do you take the risk and try to help him out...OR, are you worried a trap has been set and you are about to be the victim of some indescribable and foul action? - Pull it. I would consider it to be ‘paying it forward’.
Do you enjoy the beauty and serenity a plant brings in an office environment or are you more concerned about the annoying bugs they bring and the note Delores in accounting leaves for you when she's on vacation reminding you to water her G.D. rhododendron?
I don’t care for plants unless they’re edible or can be used for a purpose that goes beyond aesthetics.
Anything you would like to plug?
