“with no trial” the WHOLE server decided to lock up c!dream😭
“the world doesn’t revolve around c!tommy” YOUR world maybe. mine does though
c!sam is superior because he’s one of the few villainous characters who received consequences for his actions, especially in his relationships
“but [c!dream’s] out, sam! he’s out! and you know what’s gonna happen to this place? you know what happened to l’manburg?”
cponk gets it. like he Gets it. he’s one of the oldest members on the server, and they KNOW how cdream used to be and how he is now. not only that, but they can see how the fall of l’manburg was, ultimately, cdream’s fault. HE is the one who destroyed it, and cponk knows he wouldn’t hesitate to destroy the rest of the server if he thought he needed to
the circumstances that created l’manburg are so interesting. like, back then, the only people who had really good loot and were pvpers were the dteam. nobody in l’manburg was a good fighter, and that was the whole point. it was a bunch of little guys standing together so they didn’t get pushed around by the big guys. when one person got in trouble, everyone else helped. and even though now on the server, this mindset of “sides” is looked down on, it was a NECESSITY then. it was a “i can’t survive on my own, but maybe we can survive together” situation.
and i feel like most people forget this, but the server was MUCH more violent back then. things were solved by killing your opponent because canon lives hadn’t been established yet. if you killed someone, the worst that would happen is that they would lose all their stuff. that’s why i feel like it’s weird when ppl complain about how violent lmanburg was, and all the wars they got into, cause it’s like….yeah. that’s how the server WAS back then. everyone was like that.
the servers old now. everyone has spent hours grinding, and most people are on equal footing regarding weapons and armor. they don’t NEED to lean on each other anymore, and i think that’s why there’s so much misunderstanding about what l’manburg stood for. not only that, but with the canon lives system in place, violence has narrative consequences that it didn’t before. now, people have to attempt to find other ways to solve their problems (even if they usually fail).
anyways, i’ve been rambling. but from a worldbuilding perspective, it’s REALLY cool to see how the culture of the server shaped l’manburg’s values. i wish more people would take it into account when they discuss l’manburg.
when csam loves you he gives you fresh pumpkin pie and plays tag with you. he gives you diamonds and gives you more when you burn them. he says, “when you need someone, you know where to find me.” he writes that it was his fault, don’t blame yourself. when csam loves you he swears to always protect you.
when csam loves you he eats his own rotting flesh for you. he cuts off your arm and calls it beautiful. he locks you in an obsidian box deep in the mountains. he walks along dark hallways and hands a scarred man bloodied shears. he says, “you should be dead.” he builds a new self for you. he loses himself for you. he lies to you and fails you again and again and again. when csam loves you he destroys you utterly.
