We polled our favorite framebuilders, cross racers, bike campers and gravel shredders, came up with 110mm by 7^ as a happy medium, and got to programming. We weren’t sure if the design would translate well aesthetically, but we knew the engineering would. The thin walled “squarcle” shape and use of the best aerospace quality American 2024 alloy make this stem 23% stiffer than the competition, tough as hell, and still pretty light. It goes through 6 different CNC machining processes (externally and internally) using 24 different tools before it starts the finishing process. Prototypes were tested on road and trail, and one even snagged a podium in the process. From an engineering standpoint: We nailed it! As for the aesthetics...we think it looks really cool, but we’re machinist nerds that love the aesthetics of function driven design.
