ok you know I love we tried the world; good god, it wasn’t for us like NO OTHER so please hit me w that director’s cut/make me cry 😚

“we tried the world; good god, it wasn’t for us” is like......one of my favorite things that ive ever written, if not THE most, quite honestly. i LOVE angst (anyone who speaks to me knows this) and it was just! one of those nights! i couldnt resists with the bridge bit anyways.

it’s super prose-y, not a ton of thought went into it prior to writing but i knew i wanted to structure it with the facts about the London bridge and the River Thames and present elements of the villaneve relationship in the same light. it’s meant to be dark but also with the sense that they’re finally free. maybe not in the way that we would think, but they are. together.

the title is hozier lyrics from Jackie and Wilson bc i LOVE that song! and the underwater bit is somewhat inspired by the hozier album cover.

i like presenting things as an inevitability and i think it really shows in this particular fic—not dying, necessarily, but the two of them always colliding and ending up together no matter the circumstance. but death has always played a huge part in their dynamic, has it not? it’s pretty ironic. it’s the last hurrah, the final blaze of glory before the flames of their relationship go out, you know? and i’m always a sucker for major character death oops.......

i would talk about a specific excerpt but the whole thing i could say SOMETHING about, really !!!!!!
